If you can tell they are going to hit you you have 2 options. If there is no cross traffic, run the light. If there is or you dont want to run the light, brace for impact. It will be their fault and their insurance will cover the repair on your car. and your medical bills.

run it, if you can, or pull forward a little more.

just keep your wheels straight, so if he does slam into you, he doesnt push you into another lane, like oncoming traffic...

I get out of the way.
If my (3) brake lights don't seem effective, I'm gone. Not even a moments notice. Just take it? Seat belt? Not on this thing!

Always wear a seatbelt, so you won't be killed when stuff like this happens.

If there is no cross traffic, I would go forward or if next to the curb, turn.

If you don't have time to get out of the way, take your foot off the break so some of impact is diffused in forward motion.

I really can not tell you what I would do until I was in that situation and hopefully I will never have to. I can tell you alot of things like let them hit me, drive thru the light and get hit by the other car that has a green light. I really do not know.

If you can, move into the next lane (provided there are no cars on either side of you). If you are not able to, do not run the light or you will be at fault for any accidents caused. I guess you just might have to take it. My brother was at a red light when some idiot girl hit him. She wasn't even sorry and was talking about how her daddy would buy her a new car now. Too bad for her my brother got a lawyer and she got owned!

If you can find an out or a way to turn away then do so. Otherwise you just grin and bear it. Sometimes the only thing you can do is put on your saftey belt and brace for impact.

this is just 1 of many fears a biker has...gettin slammed in the back.

if at the front, i stay in the rt hand lane so i have an option of doing a quick right hand turn to duck the monkey. if not, i leave plenty of space between me and the car ahead, and watch the mirrors. if i think he isnt gonna stop, i'll flash the brake lights quickly.......dont wait until the dumbass is already 1/2 length away to do it.

on the bike, i leave it in gear set at an angle with some manuver room between me and the car ahead. if he doesnt look like he's gonna stop, i'll use my small size to the advantage and split the lane and let the car ahead take the hit. there's no such thing as a fender bender on a bike, and no way in hell am i going to risk getting crushed by some cell phone moron.

rule number 1: watch yer mirrors. never assume, that will get u in trouble big time.

TRY TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY IF THERE IS NO TRAFFIC IN FRONT OR STEP ON YOUR BRAKES AND HOLD ON.

IF you see if far enough back and can do so safely, try to pull forward or do a right turn on red. It is a "split second decision". Otherwise, just roll forward as much as you can and brace yourself. Be ready to hold down the brakes so you don't go forward more than the accident pushes you.

As always, call the police and report the accident, find witnesses. exchange insurance and contact info. Get the other person's license number. Call your insurance company and theirs as soon as you can.
