I take your point, but on the flipside, German autobahns have a better safety record than our M-ways, possibly because drivers concentrate more at higher speeds, and don't spend their time yakking into a mobile phone!
Also, this clip demonstrates perfectly the answer to the 'why make cars that can do more than 70mph' question that crops up on here from time to time. Did you see how easily that big BMW lost 100mph in about 3 seconds as the driver braked for the slower car in front? Big speed means big brakes!
My final point is that once you exceed 50-60mph, if you crash, you're probably dead anyway if you hit anything, so why the big fuss about high speeds. Inattention kills far more drivers than simply exceeding some arbitary speed limit, and who wouldn't give a BMW M6 a bit of a squirt on a clear autobahn given the chance??!! |

ur just jealous that u cant get on the autobahn. btw, not all sections of the autobahn have unrestricted speed either. what would be reckless is, attempting to take an old clunker that needs a tailwind to get up to 60 much less 160. |

Absolutely not dangerous. 1. It's Germany where it's perfectly legal to drive that speed. 2. The driver clearly has the skill needed to drive that car at that speed safely. 3. The car is clearly designed to handle that speed, and as was demonstrated. The braking system was way more the adequate to slow the car well before they hit slower traffic.
I suspect that most people who have a problem with driving fast like that, are just jealous. Because they don't own a car like that, and if did. They wouldn't be able to drive anyways. Because they wouldn't know how to drive a 7-speed car. Since they have never driven anything other then a big clunky SUV.
Yea, yea, yeah. Speed kills, and if we all drove 5 MPH. We'd never die. But some of us have got a life, and things to get done:) |
