ok so I am not a very good driver. :(
Especially not in downtown Atlanta traffic.
So in the morning times I drive to work (mom rides with me so she can drive the car back cause she has to go to work after me)
In driver's ed it was drilled into our skulls if we don't look over our shoulders when changing lanes we will fail the test
Mom freaks out and panics saying that is stupid and that you should never look over your shoulder because it is dangerous and you should rely on your mirrors.
I'm trying to explain to her about blind spots on the car. She says to forget everything I learned in driver's ed and just use my mirrors.
Ughh.

Why don't you let your bossy mother drive you to work, so there is no stress...and try to get your driving in at other times. You sound like a safe driver, you just need more practice.
Your mom sounds like one of those people who has to be right, no matter what...she is darn lucky if she has never been in a wreck...show her your driver's ed book and especially the part where it says to look over your shoulder!!!
Maybe you can get your dad, an older sibling or another relative to let you drive them to get some practice hours behind the wheel.....good luck with your driving and your mom. |

We have one car for instruction purposes for use on a closed course that has no mirrors at all to teach people to look around. Mirrors don't tell the whole story there's a lot of missing information that can only seen by turning your head and looking over your shoulders. How did your mom get her license? |

Your mother is stupid. Looking over your shoulder is critical, especially when beginning to drive. You have blind spots and by not checking them you could miss something. Listen to your driving instructor they are the ones who are trained in correct driving. |
