Mothers day my grandmother got in a car accident and when i took her up to the police station to find out what happen cause she couldn't remember anything the officer told me he didn't want her driving but didn't take her license. I called my aunts(they all leave far away) and told them said they don't want her driving so technically i stole her car to keep her from driving.... what do we need to do legally to stop her from driving. She is the only one that thinks it is ok to drive. What do we do? I don't think we can sell her car without her consent.

You need talk to her doctor, take the police report and a statement from the officer that said she didn't need to be driving to him. You can have her evaluated to see if she is competent, and if not you can file to get power of attorney and then yes you can sell the car. But you will be responsible for her well being. If she is competent then you can have the Dr evaluate her for her physical ability to handle a 2000 lb machine. Tell the Dr your concerns and ask what he/she suggests be done. You may have to take it to court. Call a family practice attorney and ask what your options are. Until you get something done legally take her license and the keys or the car and put it at you house so she has nothing that she can drive.
Good luck, I know this is a hard thing to do but it is necessary to keep her and the rest of the people on the road with her safe. |

This was hard for me as an instructor To do get Professional instructor to give a mock road test Then talk her. Many students cried I turned in my license after 50 years on the road .A bus pass is cheap and i don't miss driving |

Leave the car in her driveway and she can have the keys.
But... take some critical part out. So it won't even start. Get a mechanic to help if you don't know what to remove.
And make sure there is some ride service available, so she can still get around ok. |
