well im 16, and i always wanted to adopt.. my grandma works at a social services and wants to help me. i want to adopt from ethiopia when im 25. and foster care at 19. can anyone that adopted from either of these places tell me the process of it and how long to wait.. thanx p.s i know im young and i shouldnt be thinking about this but im very interested. and i always wanted to give the less fortunate a better life.

If you want to "give the less fortunate a better life," join the Peace Corps. Go to Ethiopia and help build schools, churches, homes...whatever they need. Don't take an Ethiopian child from his homeland and native language and relatives/friends just so YOU can feel better about yourself.
If you really want to adopt a child who needs a home, there are plenty of kids in foster care in your home country. Those kids are the ones whose parents' rights have been terminated for one reason or another and they won't have to learn a new language, move far from the only home they've ever known, and adapt to a new culture in order for YOU to become a parent. |
