If you haven't already done so, apply for info here:

Make sure you send them a copy of the papers you mention in the question that indicate your birthparents' consent to contact

You could also send that paperwork to the Court that finalized the adoption with a covering letter requesting access to your records. If this is not successful then look into formally petitioning the court.

Search for as many reunion registries on the internet as you can find and register and search them regularly. Always ensure your contact and email details are kept up-to-date.

If you don't have your birthname, there are ways to find that too, if you haven't done so already. It's best to join a search and support group where people who know the ropes can guide and help you.

Finally, join the effort to change the antiquated sealed records laws and finally allow adult adoptees to be treated as equal citizens under the law - including access to their own records without restriction.

There are some good responses here about the registries and petitioning the court. Texas has a pretty good birth index that includes the names of parents. State birth indexes are a little crazy, as they sometimes only have an adopted persons birth listed by his/her factual birth information, sometimes only by his/her adoptive information, and sometimes by both. This happens when the information for the person is listed twice -- once by birth information and once by adoptive information. The Texas birth index can be accessed via Ancestry.com. You can sign up and get 2 weeks free. I have a membership, so if you want to PM me and have me check it for you, I will do so. The index can surely be worth a try.

Hello! I actually just found my biological father about 3 months ago. My mom never married him or anything and her hubby now adopted me after they got married! I got a lot of info about finding the parent.. I was basically told that you have to pretty much go to court to have the judge unseal your original birth certificate! Because when you were adopted your name changed and all that jazz. so i would contact the adoption agency, or even the place where you get birth certificates and all that. and ask them about it. but i am pretty sure you have to go to court to have them unseal your original birth certificate!!

i understand. although i know who my parents are, i was raised by my grandparents and my real parents were rarely present. so i know how it feels to be lost at times and feel like you dont fit in.

i would say contact any adoption agency, and ask them how you would go about searching for your real parents, and what advice they give to those that were adopted from their agency.

you could also call a paralegal and ask how you could search for them.

You should still be able to find out where the records fromt that agency went. Someone has to still have them. Also you should be able to go to the Dallas county courthouse and request the records.
