Adoptees...My dad had a heart attack last night?

I'm sorry about your father.

I would want to know. I would want to see him.

But I'm not your sister. And I don't know how she feels about him. If she's 21, who knows all the things that may be going on in her life right now. Still, I would hope she would get in touch. Better that than not and regret it later.

My mother-in-law was very sick and in the hospital, when the son she placed for adoption 45 years before that found her, and called her in the hospital. It was like a miracle recovery! Now, brothers and sister have been reunited! I hope your family has a joyous miraculous reunion also, and I believe that no matter what, they'll meet in heaven in years to come!

Yes i would.I never knew my dad and my mom said he was married and mom was only 14 ys old and she told him i was not his' so not to break the family up.Well 3 ys agoi finally found his number thru an aunt' and when i called he was sick and dieing' but i wanted to see where i came from.He died 2 days later and his daughters who are my age i am 36 and asked if i could just come to meet them and see pictures of my dad' but my aunt called them and said some crap as 15 ys ago i was arrested for shoplifting.They answered my call and said they did not want anything to do with me.Yes i hope she gets the message so she won't feel left out like i did....ps i think they thought i was a gold digger' but i just wanted to see how much he looked like me' as i always was the black sheep of the family

I am sorry to hear about your Dad. My thoughts are with you and your family for a safe surgery and a speedy recovery.

I have not had contact with my father in over 30 years. He and my mother divorced when I was six and he chose not to remain in contact with me even though my mom made sure he had a contact number.

If I found out he was seriously ill I would go to see him. I don't know if I would be able to forgive myself if I didn't and something were to happen to him.

I hope you sister can put aside whatever she may be feeling and come and see him before his surgery.

I think you have done the right thing - assuming she got the message she can make that choice.

How would I feel and would I want to see him - I dont know fo defo as I have not been in that position and dont know the history but I think so.

Even if she doesn't want to see him right now, she still deserves to know. It's the same issue when birthmothers don't tell the birthfathers about their pregnancy, which is something my birthmother did. He may not have wanted to raise or help raise me, but he deserved to know. Please try to contact her and I hope everything goes okay with your father.
