I met my 1st mom a few years before I found my birth dad. Pictures of me in the 3rd grade looked a bit like her at 16. She was 5'2". So was my 1/2 sister. I am 5'9"! I was so disappointed. I didn't really look like anyone!
3 years later when I met my birth father, my ex husband walked into the room & spotted him right away. He was 6'4", blonde hair. He ordered my favorite pizza & drank the same beer I liked. He said I look just like his mother & sister.
Years later, his daughter (my 1/2 sis) & ex wife both tell me I have many mannerisms like him. That surprised me the most because I never spent much time with him (before he died).
I take after my adopted dad, too. A blend of nurture & nature. A daddy's girl.
The only thing I was "shocked" by, if at all, is that my brith father asked to meet me (I didn't think he would b/c of my 1st mom's memory of his reaction to her pregnancy). |

I haven't met them face to face yet but have seen many pictures and "spoken" with them.
So far, my sister and I are the most alike. We have the same basic personality and basic interests. It depends on which photos I see - in some of them, she could be my mirror image. In others, we don't look much alike at all.
We definitely have the same lips and nose though. Silly inconsequential thing to note, but if you've never seen anyone who resembles you your entire life... it can be quite astonishing!
As for actually acting the same and doing the same hobbies, that remains to be seen. |

My birthmom and I are so much alike in personality that her friends and mine, could not believe we had been seperated for my whole life. |

My personality was most like natural mom. I didnt really think I looked like her very much(still dont), but I have a picture of me and my birth aunt and our smiles are exactly the same. When I saw that picture I knew it really was my family.
I have very similar interests as my entire moms family. Same likes in food, design, art, music. Really cool actually. |

My sister, all the way. She walked in, and it was a true holy crap moment. Physically we were almost mirror images of each other, and our daughters had an uncanny likeness too. We still look very much alike. When I first met my first family, people often called me by her name. We are also very much alike in temperament, likes, dislikes, values. We even got pregnant at the same time in our lives. I think that in and of itself was so shocking, that my life mirrored someone else's so closely despite the fact that we had two very different upbringings. That and the fact that I looked like so many people, had similar fears, talents, everything. |

My older half-sister and I could be twins if she were shorter and had red hair. It freaked me out, because she's so different from me in other ways. She's just... I hate saying this about my own blood, but she's trash. I don't think she's inherently trashy... if things had been different in her early life and she had had guidance, I have little doubt that she could have really been someone.
Things didn't go right for her, and she fell onto the wrong path. Drugs, alcohol, quit school, can't hold a job, 5 kids by age 23 and all of them taken away by 24, trouble with the law. That's what shocks me most is that someone from my family could be... the antithesis of everything my grandparents, godparents and myself live/d by.
It was like looking at my doppelganger, and I saw a lot of my own personality traits in her. Just used differently. I know now how thin the line I walk is, how one wrong move could send me on the same path.
I assumed we'd look similar, both like my mother and grandmother. All the women in the family seem to look/have looked similar in their youth.
My biological dad and I look very little alike, but are astoundingly alike in personality and habits. Even some of the weird little personality quirks. I'm close with their family (step mom and younger half-sister), and both step-mom and sister are always pointing out stuff that we do/say that's the same. |

When I met my birth family 6 years ago, I looked most like my birth uncle, and my birth maternal grandmother. So when I adopted my Daughter. I made sure she would be able to communicate with her birth family throughout her life. So when she finally met them, it wouldn't be such a shocker. |

I look nothing like my Birth mom, at all. or my birth dad. My birth moms daughter looks like me a little bit. I guess that's why i feel like i cant relate with her in, i mean im still trying and im sure it will happen over time. but I just look to much like my Adoptive parents, and i act, sound and do everything like my adoptive mom. |
