im still a "teen" myself. 19 that is.
but i would most def. adopt a teen. i was in foster care when i was 12, my baby siblings were 3 and 5. i was told that they were going to be adopted and i was going to be sent to random foster homes. luckily for me thats not how it worked but i would have loved to have some sane person adopt me.

Yes absolutely. In my state at least, you are not allowed to adopt out of birth order. So it will be a few years. Actually i think it might be for the best. I will be a more experienced mother at that point, which would probably be what is best for the child.

I agree with you on all points. I currently have no experience raising teens. I do feel however, going into this blindly with no experience thinking love would be enough might lead to failure. I believe failure would hurt the child more. Call your local foster care system and ask what books, courses or anything else they would suggest in helping you parent a teen. Make an informed and educated decision for the child's sake. IDK, like i said, I have no experience raising teens but those are my thoughts for what they are worth.

Honestly to view a baby as untainted and pure and unharmed is kind of sad for these kids who are older just looking for a home. There are challenges within any adoption process...let alone any child from any family. If you sit down and decide what you're up for and what you're not...but also being up front and honest and engage them from a real, down to earth place. Set guidelines for yourself before you start going thru the application process...how much *can* you handle? Therapeutically? Mentally? Emotionally? Etc...

Personally I'm more interested in adopting a teen, helping them get their life on track and giving the opportunities, guidance, love and support. I would really have to make sure I connect with the child tho...to know and feel we are on the same page. Honesty with yourself and them is very important I feel...at this point they know what they're going thru...to a certain degree. You can be the fresh angle that gives them a new approach to life. You'd have to have a firm grip on what type of household you have (a healthy...sane one) so if they entered your life they won't be allowed to disturb it with unhealthy old habits. No doubt, it is a challenge!

I wish you luck in whatever you decide...there might be support groups or other mom & dads you can talk to...

i think it depends on of which country you want to adopt,
adopting a child of your own country,has no problem but if you want to adopt from another country,no its not a good idea..

i think thats a beautiful idea, but the problem is that the majority of teenagers who need to be adopted come from harsh backgrounds. they already have their values and cannot be taught to have yours like babies can. i guess it depends on the teen because at 15 they could have drug and alcohol problems and things like that, but if they dont then its really great for them to be adopted as they do have as much right to a family as a baby does.

My current girlfriend was adopted at fourteen, and she found those parents to be the greatest boon in rehabilitating her life. It is not a simple thing for you to do, but if the child appreciates what you want to do, it could be a great experience for you both.
