Adoption Agency offering International Surrogacy.?
|
Did anyone else know an agency was offering this? I was looking around on the Adoption Agency Ratings site. I like to check out what people are saying about different agencies. I was stunned when I clicked on the Partners for Adoption website. (It had a perfect 5 star rating) They offer international surrogacy! Here is a link to their site http://www.partnersforadoption.org/surrogacy.shtml Here is an excerpt from their site. If I didn't know better, I would think it was a spoof, but it isn't.
"International Surrogacy
Partners for Adoption is excited to share the news of our sister program with International Surrogacy Partners. International Surrogacy Partners, a pioneer in the new frontier of International Surrogate Parenthood, believes that every individual and couple has the right to happiness through parenthood. International surrogacy has, until recently, been most common throughout Europe. International Surrogacy Partners is the first U.S. based agency to have an established surrogacy program in Eastern Europe, with the exclusive rights to work with 2 prominent clinics in Ukraine, both of which have many years of experience."
Am I naive to be shocked at something this dispicable? Does anyone know of other agencies offering this? Additional Details Santa's Lil' Helper - That's interesting that you think the surrogacy is a guise to get children out of Ukraine easier. While that may bypass processes in Ukraine and get a child OUT of Ukraine (I don't know much about Ukraine procedures), it wouldn't make it easier to get a child INTO the U.S. The same immigration standards would apply. I imagine it would be a red flag to immigration and would be checked out very carefully before a visa was issued. I think it truly is simply a new low in taking advantage of poor women, not a guise.

Most of the positive ratings on that site are from the adoption agency workers. If you want a true non-bias opinion of an agency, go to Yahoo groups Adoption Agency Research. You must sign up and answer a few short questions. This site is for PAP or APs only (Prospective Adoptive Parents and Adoptive Parents) we don't want any "propaganda or slick marketing from adoption agencies"
You can also free of charge check the IRS 990 tax returns for adoption agencies at www.guidestar.com. You will be appalled at how much money these agencies have grossed and what their Executive Directors have been paid. Most were grossing over $1 million a year.
It is a business plain and simple, but with the economy and more Hague Regulations there are several agencies closing down (or being closed by the State Atorney General offices) Waiting Angels, Reaching out thru Int'l Adoption, Project Oz, Main Street Adoptions, Claar Foundation and much more. Countries are also closing down to international adoption: Guatemala, Vietnam, Romania, Bulgaria, Nepal, etc., Several more have made it very difficult.
Partners for Adoption in Walnut Creek, CA has a new Business Director who is "partnering with other agencies" and offering any and all programs they can to stay afloat. They are now even attempting to try domestic adoptions.
Sadly, with all the orphans in the world that an agency would choose to deal in "rent a wombs" in the Ukraine and create more children when there are SO many that need homes. This is relatively new to the USA (International Surrogacy Adoption) but I suspect that before long it will be a medical, moral and ethical issues surrounding this.
How do you know it is your fetus? Can the woman hold the fetus as ransome for more money from desperate Americans seeking a "baby"
Too many medical issues to list. Lastly, the USA has over 130,000 paper ready children in our foster care system looking for a home. So before anyone attempts to spend $30,000+ on an international adoption consider fost to adopt of a fellow American child in need.

By the way there is a "rent a womb" adoption program in Guatemala and India as well. This is done in the USA all the time it is suppose to be "cheaper" if done internationally. If you complete an adoption or surrogacy domestically, you would be able to monitor the process much easier th |

Oh, come on, adoption agencies would NEVER exploit poor women in third world countries. They are charities doing god's work!

Having adopted from Ukraine this smells rotten! Much of the info regarding the Ukraine adoption program is inaccurate and outdated. They offer older children for host to adopt; preselection in Ukraine is illegal! This reeks to me! I would expect an awful time trying to leave the country! |

It seems to me that under the guise of surrogacy it would be easier to get newborns out of a country because they are not subject to adoption laws.
Perhaps that is the angle your missing. |
