If I live in Florida, can I adopt a kid from NC or do I need to live in that State to do it? Thanks,

Sure you can if you have enough money. You can adopt from almost anywhere with enough money. Look at Madonna and Angelina Jolie. Money talks! |

I agree, you can adopt from any state, you just need to educate yourself about their specific laws. You obviously may need to attend court to make the adoption final in that state as well.
Researching the specific state laws, contacting the adoption agency or Dept. of Children & Families of that state as well would be your best place to start. That way you can plan ahead, find out exactly what needs to be done (i.e travel time, paperwork, homestudy, etc.)

You can. There are interstate compact rules that cover adoptions across state lines. You would have to check the specifics on NC and Florida. |

Yes, we adopted both of our boys from out of state. We had to stay in the state for a couple weeks but that is the same even if you adopt from the state you live in (can't leave the state until you have ICPC approval). |

NC seems pretty easy to work with. We have another out-of-state placement from a state that made us give up the privilege to foster until he finalizes, so when they called I had to put them off for a couple more months. |

Yes you can, although every state probably has different rules. I know one couple who adopted a child from Vermont and live in NY - they had to spend about two weeks there during the process and were able to take him home after that period. If you call your local adoption agency, they no doubt have tons of information they can send you. |

Yes you can, you have to do a CPS home study, in your state, and that person needs to do everything that NC and Florida require by law to be done. Ask about an ICPC, Interstate Compact. My husband and I are adopting my 3 siblings from Arizona, we live in New Mexico. Its not that much work, just a lot of dedication. Good Luck. |
