I am going to a friends party next weekend. She's 15 years old, and she has been living with her foster parent for quite some time now. She has finally been officially adopted, which is what the party is celebrating. I want to get her a small gift. I was thinking earings, but does anyone have any idea in mind that just jump out as an "adoption gift"??

How about a book about adoption from the adoptee's perspective? I think it would be a wonderful gift to point out to her that her sense of self is important, and her journey is valued, by those around her. I know there are plenty of good books like this, but the one I can think of is "Journey of the adopted self". |

I like Denise's locket idea, but in addition to the photo's you could have the date of the adoption enngraved on it too with her initials.

how about a gift that any 15 year-old girl would like? although it's for an "adoption party" there is no rule that it have to be related to the adoption. not all kids see there adoption as a totally wonderful...some are dealing with extreme loss from their natal families and are making difficult transitions.
