Adoption a lenghty proceedure?

Me and my hubby are living in the uk, we both may never be able to have children, and would like to adopt a baby if all goes wrong with infertility treatment.

I don't know about the process can anyone help? thank you

I don't know the process in the UK

We adopted in the US and had a very short wait. It was 4 months to the day from the time we first called the agency for information to the time our son was in our arms.

We were very open in a lot of ways. We did not care about the gender or ethnicity of the baby. We were open to some bmom substance abuse, we also were open to having a very open adoption.

well since they are practicing forced adoption in the UK now, I wouldn't think the wait would be too long.

Long waits are mostly for the white healthy children.
Shorter waits are for either: special needs children, African american, foster children. Good luck!!

It all depends how selective you are about: race, gender, age, ethnicity, and how much you are willing to pay. If you are very specific, and not willing to broaden your scope, then you may be waiting a long time.

However, if you are just looking for a child, even an infant, that is looking for a good home, then you may not have to wait very long.

My wife and I adopted in the US in 2006, not sure of the UK is different. Our agency told us couples commonly adopt in one to two years. Prepare yourself for two years so you will not be disappointed.

I was adoted so i can help alittle. Lets see well if you want to adopt out side your country then it will take much longer. then most procerdures. they usually take up to about one and a half years or more. when adopting in your own country takes eight months to a year. Its all on you. what ever you want to do and makes you happy. good luck. to you and your husband. what ever happens

I have friends who have looked into it, and I think it takes at least 2 years and can be quite a difficult process. It also takes longer if you want a baby or a very young child as opposed to an older child who might have some behavioural problems.
