It doesn't matter to me how they adopt (private, foster to adopt or what ever), I think it's cool and I wish you all, all the luck.

Unlike what another here has said, a child for adoption is going to be losing his/her birth parents no matter which path your parents choose to adopt through. The only difference is, if they chose to bring another child into the world on their own there will be one more child waiting for an adoptive family. If they want to adopt, more power to them. Like I said, I think it's cool, way cool.

37 is not too old.

Also you can't just go pick out a boy and a girl from the babystore like puppies. It does not work like that. You get what you get in adoption just like if you were to have a biological child.

My uncle was the only boy and had six sisters. He did not turn out feminine or anything, nor was he spoiled (quite the opposite actually, they really would pick on him!) by having six sisters.

I dont think your mom is too old to have another baby. As long as she is healthy. My mom was 36 when she had me, and my siblings were 15, 11, 9, and 4- so kind of around the same ages as you girls, with another baby thrown in there! I also think he wont be girly or spoiled, but there is a chance he will be. Like you can see by the ages, my mom had 5 kids, which were 4 girls and 1 boy. He is the furthest thing from girly you can get! He is kinda spoiled, but its not really "spoiled" and all of us kids got a little of it. He got more, of course, but its from the way we were raised. My parents were always there with money whenever we asked for it.
The only thing is- he got away with more because he was a boy, and boys get away with more, plus he was the only boy so my parents were like "oh its ok!" ya know?

But if your mom thinks she is too old to have a baby (I still say shes not) adoption is a great way to go! She can get whichever gender she wants, and any age, plus she would really really be making some little baby happy by giving him a great home!

Early congrats to your family for the possible addition.

37 is not too old to have another baby, I'm 36, have a 19 month old and hoping to have another next year. Your mother should have her own child.

If your parents are going thru foster care then congrats. That IS cool.

If not:
Your mom is not too old, she is still in her 30's. Tell her to get pregnant with your new baby brother or sister. There are a lot of words to describe adoption but "cool" is not one of them. A baby has to lose his/her parents to make YOUR parents dreams come true. Nope, doesn't sound cool to me.

She's is not too old. They do consider people over 35 to be at greater pregnancy risks and problems but they are definitely not too old as many people in their 40's (the new 30's) are having children. If they want another child tell them to conceive their own.

I know that you probably meant well with your post & all but honestly the last thing they should be worried about is if their child turns out to be feminine...'good intentions' isn't a good enough reason to adopt. They need to really look into what the child would go thro- instead of just looking at how it will affect them. Being spoiled occassionally isn't the problem it's when kids are spoiled ROTTEN because parents are too lazy to be parents.
