There are under 500 adoptions per year finalised.
(compared to over 130,000 per year in the USA)
And most of them are from overseas.
Pregnant women in AUS are encouraged to parent - first and foremost - after giving birth - and no pre-adoption plans are made - like in the US. (family preservation is of great importance)
Google 'adoption' and the state you live in to find out the procedure in your particular state.
Adoptions are all run by the government - I believe that adopting from O/S is quite expensive.
Countries for adoption are few - as Australia is strict that all Hague conditions are being supported - meaning - they are trying to make sure that adoptions that do take place - are completely ethical - and no profittering is going on.
There are many children waiting for a loving home in foster care - and in many cases - parental rights are relinquished - and adoption can take place. Perhaps also look into this option - and these are the children that really do need a loving home and caring parents.
Again - check with your state government departments.

Why do you want to adopt ?
Are you able to have your own child ?

Only just under 500 adoptions are carried out a year here in Australia
There are VERY Strict rulings here.

Australia is usually a country that adopts children from foreign countries not adopts them out.

Usually Australian 'orphans' are only adopted into another country if the person that is adopting them is a relative.

If you are an American there are plenty of agencies set up to make adoption in certain countries easier. Most American adoption agencies favour countries such as Guatemala, Russia, China, and Thailand.
