I live in CT too!

Depending on how old you are willing to adopt, my first recommendation is DCF.

There are foster kids of various ages that are looking for good homes. They have strict guidelines but the list isn't as long as with an adoption agency. They will even pay you a monthly stipend for adopting the child (not saying that the money would be an incentive!)

What do they look for? Pretty much the same for DCF as well as adoption agencies. They want a couple that can provide a stable, loving home. If one of the parents is home during the day that couldn't hurt.

Another option is to register with an agency such as Planned Parenthood. Many young mothers will carry a baby to term but not want to keep it. (Just be aware that you may be disappointed when/if she decides to keep it after the baby is born.)

Independ"ant"
I think you should start by thinking about whether adoption is right for you and fair to a child needing a stable loving home.

Take a few years to grieve your miscarriages. Adoption is not for replacement or as a backup plan.

The fact your bio-mother wasn't able to care for you is difficult enough never mind piling on that they were adopted because the a-parent couldn't have biological children.

Adoption isn't about the adult, its solely about the children and their need.
