A little sister isn't a puppy. You just can't ask for one and they show up. You would want to go the way of foster to adopt probably. When we did foster care we received children ranging in ages of 1 year to 17 years old. Your mom would have to take many many classes. House inspections. Alot has to invested in this. And it is not easy. These children have many trust & emotional issues. It isn't something to enter into lightly

Any child aged 0-18 can be adopted in any state. In many states, adults can be adopted, as well.

Of course, this is entirely up to your mother.

You can adopt whtever age needs a home. My Aunt just adopted a 4 year old. He is the most sweetest thing ever! Anyway yes it really is good to get older kids out of foster homes and comfort them. So yes your mom can... Let me know if you need anymore info!

How about volunteering some time at a local boys and girls club to start out with :)

what does your mom want? and yes there are many older kids available for adoption

angelic_rockr
You can adopt anywhere from birth to 18.

you might want to talk to your mom a little more about it.

You can adopt a child at any age, but you have to make sure you can support the child etc. It can be hard but great in the end. I'm not sure if your mom will but if your mom wants another child she'll make one or adopt one her self. She cant just cuz you want one, sorry. GOOD LUCK :)

I would suggest doing foster care. It is much easier to get into and those children(of all ages) need good homes.

adoption is not limited to babies. in fact, many older children are in need of a home, because many people tend to adopt babies instead (they're cute, young....) same goes for animals a lot of times too.
um but does your mom know you want her to adopt a little sister for you? and its not just like you adopt her and then you get tired of her, and want her to leave (same goes with pets too). she will be there to STAY. your WHOLE family needs to be in agreement on this decision.

you can adopt anyone of any age. and if you want to adopt anyone, you should like meet the requirements. and the adoption services are pretty strict about meeting the requirements.

It's not your choic on wheather or not ur mother can bring in a new child. Let the record show that ur not the one who's makeing the money, and it's REALLYYYY difficult to raise children! not alone the finacial reasons.

T S
do foster care otherwise babies are nice but toddlers and up are easier as long as you pass the backgrounds by the state agencies.

That's great that you would like a little sister through an adoption, but ultimately its your Mom (or parents) that need to want to adopt because the child will be their responsibility. It is very good that you're on board and want to be a positive role model for a child that needs a home. I think siblings are very important to have in your life. I wish the best for your family.

You can adopt at any age it is a great thing I am adopted myself and I love my parents.

The reason alot of people adopt babies is because they was to raise them with their values and beliefs. You can adopt a child at any age. If you want your mother to adopt talk to her about it and then you can go to an agency and get everything worked out.

It is very common to adopt an older child, and sometimes those are the children that need a loving home the most (since everyone wants a baby). It is an incredibly long and expensive process for any adoption. On average it takes a little over a year and costs about $10,000. The three common adoptions are closed domestic, open domestic , and international. Domestic adoptions can sometimes take less time, but it's often harder to find a child to adopt. Closed adoptions mean that the records are sealed and the birth parent will have no contact with the child. Open adoptions allow the birth parent to be involved with the child (both the birth and adoptive parents determine how involved). International adoptions are appealing because there are many children from other countries who need to be adopted and there is less of a chance of the birth parent deciding not to put the baby up for adoption. Hope this info helps!!

I think I'm in love.possibly
Depends on where from...
Mostly, you can adopt untill around the age of 15 or 13. In China, where my sis is from(shes 4, when we got her she was 1), you can adopt from 6 months to 13 years old. Then they get put on the streets. So yeah, it depends.

I say this and that

Since this is such an important issue, why isn't your mom getting these answers from an agency or lawyer?

It's hard to explain. If they can they should try to have another kid. If they can't then adopt if they want. Adoption can vary. You can adopt anyone from new borns (a few weeks/months old) up to 16-17 years old. They can be any mix of color/race/features or backgrounds. They would basically have the choice to get who they wanted, by being able to look through the foster kids to find the one they thought would be good for them.

The thing is it's a HUGE decision. Me and my wife had one kid. We have thought LONG AND HARD, with MANY discussions and decided to probably not (even though we might change our mind). EACH ONE requires an 18 year commitment at the very least + side commitment after 18. It's a lifelong thing. So they might have reservations about having another kid, so perhaps adopting is the best (though it's still very difficult.)
