Adoption question pet peeves again?

Haven't done this in a while...

Mine are adoption fundraising, adoptive breastfeeding, and the latest here (or some version of this) "I'm pregnant, and don't know where the father is, but that's okay, because he beat me, and is on drugs and unemployed."

Yours?

I think the one that bugs me the most is the

"I want to be a parent so bad and give a needy child a loving home. But I don't want to adopt from foster care because those children are older and damaged and i don't think i could handle their problems."

It makes me go...what? So if the child you do adopt or have has some kind of under lining problem are you just going to get rid of them? Um no, you parent up and deal with it. You get the education and training you need to be a good parent. There no way of telling if your child is going to have some kind of issue. He!! i have separation anxiety because my dad died when i was 9. No way my mom would have known about that. My brother has so many disorders i couldn't begin to tell you all of them but did my mom just dump him because she couldn't handle his problems? No, she educated herself and did the best she could.

My point being that just because they are a newborn doesn't mean they are going to be prefect little people. Everyone has something wrong with them.

definitely going to say adoptive mothers trying to breast feed. I didn't even know they tried to! the while idea creeps me out.

"I'm a good Christian and my husband and I want your baby"

If that isn't coveting, I don't know what is.

Um let me see........"Give me your child cause Im richer/married/want your child more" those ones always make my blood boil. "Give your kid up for adoption cause abortion is murder" .......yep, enough said on that one! "Why are adoptees so bitter and ungrateful?" Definitely any question or answer that implies that its ok to artificially stimulate a natural function like breastfeeding so that an adoptive mother can feel like she gave birth. The answers to adoptee specific questions that run along the lines of "Im not adopted but......" Oh Lord, Id better stop, there is soooooo many things said on here that just drive me totally up the wall......but thanks for the opportunity to vent Sunny.
@Allanas.......Lol!!

You hit mine right on the head.

That and the people (women) who say...

"I'm rich, educated, in a long term marriage. We own a home, a yard and a dog and all we need now is a baby to love. I know I'd be such a good mother. I'd love any baby.

But make it a girl. A PERFECT baby girl. A perfect, white baby girl with no chance of defects or problems, or tantrums. I don't like tantrums.

A girl with blonde hair, blue eyes and ringlets. I just love ringlets. I want a private, closed adoption so I can bring my baby home from the hospital in the little outfit I bought. I'll teach her how to cook, and she'll look so cute when she starts the piano lessons I've already signed her up for... She should be good in math, a spelling phenom, and of course she'll go to "mommy and me" tennis lessons with matching outfits!

But really, I have so much love to give a child. I just feel this hole in my life and I know a child will fill that special place. If you or someone you know is thinking of adoption, lets talk."

GAAAHHHH!!!!

My fave pet peeve - got plenty but this is the main one - is "how do I persuade my friend to give up her baby?"

smarmy
All though the brest feeding bothers me because of all the chemicals used to induce breast milk, and the garage sales/fund raisers bother me because its just wrong. I sold candy bars to get my kid to New York, not get my kid. I have to go with the "I'm putting my baby up for adoption because I can't give IT everything IT deserves and the father who WANTS the baby doesn't deserve IT because he's an immature loser because "I" say so"

Those really get to me, and speak volumes about the person posting it.

Asking questions on how to adopt and opinions on adoption or how adoptees feel about being adopted or mothers feel about surrendering.

There are a zillion of these same questions with an over abundance of answers. Resolved questions is a real resource for answers. Does anyone bother to look there? Would seem not.

Have seen this lately where question was asked for opinions on adoption and the almost same question was only about 2 or 3 down on the list of questions.

Of course the real pisser is the questions from PAPs coming to YA soliciting here for newborns. Major Puke!

Yeah, adoption fundraising is totally enraging for me. Don't know why. But it makes me see red. I guess I feel like...If someone is going to buy a person, they should have a healthy level of shame, rather than asking others to contribute. :-P Just me, though. It just seems so damned audacious!

I can't stand "How can I adopt my friend's kid...she's pregnant and I'm doing her a favour." Good Lord. The problems with that question are too numerous to get into here.

I also hate the "Why does everyone hate me" questions. Where the asker wants to know why "everyone here hates (insert member of the "triad" here)?" It's the internets, people. It's anonymous. No one actually "hates" anyone here personally, since most of us don`t know each other well enough to feel one way or another. Calm down.

And, of course, the old standby: "Where can I find a birthmother?". Wow. Just....Wow.

Blah blah blahhh
I agree with Lady Rowan. Adoptive breast feeding is really weird...I know breast milk is healthy for the baby, but still...like you didn't give birth to the baby. Get over it.

I have MAJOR ISSUES with many of the topics already mentioned, but my pet peeve is that adoptees are not allowed any sort of Adoption Deduction on their federal income taxes. It cost me a lot of money to have my records opened...because I am adopted. And, of course, I had absolutely no say about my adoption. Yet, AP's who choose to adopt, from where ever they choose, are the ones that get the tax break!

i have no clue what this means
