Would anyone reccomend Bethany Christian Services for domestic infant adoption? If so, why? And if not, why? Thanks so much!

That saddens me:( I wonder how the parents who adopt feel about adopting from Bethany or if they have seen this?

Not me - they preach a load of bull sh!t - things like "birth" mothers move on with their lives, that a child must have a mother and a father in the home (they do not address the fact that adoptees are LESS likely to grow up in a 2-parent family), and unconditional love for one's child means putting the child first by choosing adoption.

Unfortunately I've heard very negative things about Bethany. I've heard too many instances of them pressuring toward relinquishment or failing to discuss parenting with expecting mothers, and that leads to a lot of heartache for both mothers and adopted children. I've also heard of their social workers being obtuse and unhelpful about preserving an established open adoption.
Bethany is not an agency I personally would trust to be ethical. If you do some research about them on the internet, a lot of people involved with them have very bad things to say about them-- too many people for it to be some kind of personal grudge. I suggest you look elsewhere and not involve yourself with this agency, whether you are planning to place your child, or to adopt. |

I once knew a friend of a friend who went through bethany for their homestudy. The child they adopted was a distant relative though so they only needed the homestudy part. Anyway they loved their social worker and highly recommended them so I requested an information packet back when we where researching our options. One of the requirements was a pastoral reference. That didnt sit right with me so I threw the packet away and kept looking. |
