Adult Adoption ... complicated!?

Adult Adoption ... complicated!?

If I was raised by my maternal grandparents who are now deceased, can I obtain some kind of documentation recognizing them as my parents?

My mother (father wasn't in the picture until my teenage years and does/did not play a major role in my life) never really allowed it, and although I was raised by them since birth, they only had "Guardianship" of my sister and myself.

I don't know if laws vary by state but I'm in Texas, 31 yrs old and Grandparents (Parents to me!) have been deceased for less than a year.

With them being deceased and all, (My condolences to you about your Grandparents), I don't think you could do that mostly because they are not alive to sign any papers. I would suggest getting a memorial for them saying "mom and dad" or maybe make a donation to a hospital or charity in their name. I don't think you should dwell on the "legalness" of your parents... They loved you and they were quite obviously loving parents to you.... I hope this helps in some way. God bless.

I have to agree. Unfortunately they would need to prepare and file adoption papers through the court. That involves their signature, which is not possible.
You may be able to have them "noted" as your legal guardians, however that may involve paperwork as well. Since they have passed, I don't think there is anything, legally, you can do. I am sorry for your loss.
