Am I adpoted or not?.?

I have the "certificate of live birth" in my hand right now, I'm just wondering if the following is normal or a sign of adoption:

I was born on 2-20-1991, the "signed by" date on the certificate is 3-25-1991.. don't they usually have the doctor who delivered signed the same day?.

Then on the certificate the "date filed by local registrar" is may 10th, 1991.

Finally "This is to certify that the foregoing is a true part of the original certificate of live birth (name here, lol) filed in this office.

I would just ask my mother but she does anything but answer the question, she just waves it off like I'm being silly.

Anyway It's not a big deal if I am adopted, It's just been nagging me for a few years now. So, is the above regular for a certificate?.

Your mom won't answer your questions? Has she ever told you stories about her pregnancy? Are there pictures of her pregnant? Has she ever told you stories about your birth? What about those new-born baby and mom pictures...everyone takes them!

Ask a family member, but do expect that you will be told what they have been told to tell.

What about calling the local registrar's office? Ask about the delay in registration of your b/c...ask them very simply "Why is that? What was the delay?" They might actually tell you something like "it took that long to get the paperwork on the amended b/c ..." OR you could ask for a copy of your ORIGINAL b/c...if they say "no you can't have it because it is sealed"...bingo.

Call the doctor who signed the report? (doubt he would remember or be willing to do the leg-work through old files to find out)

I'd give your mom one last chance. Tell her if you find out that she has avoided telling you the truth when you've specifically asked her a direct question...you will be very disappointed. If she still has nothing new to add, keep digging until you find answers that satisfy your concerns.

Mine wasn't filed until 9 weeks after my birth, and as far as I know, I'm not adopted.

I have never seen pictures of my mother's pregnancy...You need to remember, not all pregnant women want their pictures taken. My mother sure didn't. My parents also didn't take really any newborn pictures of me. I don't know why. Maybe because I was the 5th kid? Who knows? But the earliest picture I have seen of myself is when I was 13 months old.

The point that I'm making is to stay calm. There could be 100 reasons for these things. Ask your parents calmly, but be rational as well.

The birth certificate is usally filed within a few days of birth, but that does not necessarily mean you are adopted.

If your mom won't answer you questions honestly, ask another family member. If they say anything beisdes "no" then there's your answer.

Some evasive answers you might get would be "Why would you ask that?' "What have you been told?" and my favorite "You need to talk to your mother"

no, it's all normal... my kids have pretty much the same thing and they aren't adopted (i say pretty much cause it's a different country.. but same thing)

Maybe some of the adult adoptees here can say for sure, but I don't think that an amended birth certificate has a doctor's signature?

yes, it sounds like you are. that's how my birth certificate is and i was adopted. you're mom is probably trying to hide if from you cuz she thinks you'll be mad at her. just tell her "it's okay if i was adopted" and then she'll probably explain everything :]

It sounds like you are adopted and your mom is hiding it from you because she thinks you will be upset or she feels guilty for keeping it a secret or perhaps she has fertility issues and is in denial. I would just sit down with her and tell her that you won't be mad at her you just feel you deserve to know the truth and be very understanding toward her. Then she will probably come clean and admit that you are adopted.
