I live in NY and I just turned 25. I have a stable home emmotionally and financially. I realize I am very young but have helped raise my sisters children when they needed me. From cutting the cord to driving lessons. I have no fertility problems this is a moral choice of mine (maybe later ill have 1) Im only the beginning the thought process Im not goin to an agency tomorrow. But this is something I wanted to know. I been reading online and I havent really found out if there is an age limitation to adopt. Any help would be great thank you so much!!

I prefer to adopt becuz their are TOO MANY children who have been neglected and deserve a loving home

I am 23...at age 21 in KY you are allowed to be a foster parent. Look into that. I want to adopt and am certified. I have fostered 9 children from birth to age 11 so far. the baby i have now i have had a year and am most likely going to get to adopt him! :) I agree I rather everyone adopt then concieve b/c children out there need good parents to love them.concider foster care its a way to help many many children and still experience the motherhood feeling....and in more cases tha you think you are offered to adopt them |

You're not too young...My husband and I initially applied to be foster parents when I was 26.
There are some other issues with what you are saying, though. I'm too sleep-deprived at the moment to address them now...I'm sure someone else will, though. Just PLEASE hang around this section for a while, and read and learn with an open mind. |

Yes you are old enough to adopt and there are many waiting children; from foster care. |

No you are not too young to adopt, however, birth parents who participate in an open adoption process for their newborn, where they can choose the adoptive parent(s) may prefer married and/or older prospective parents. There is always a shortage of adoptive parents willing to adopt older children (school-age and teens). You have a big heart. Good luck to you. |

rules in adoption vary from state to state and from agency to agency and differ in foster care. If you wish to adopt, then pick an agency and start asking questions. I looked at several agencies before I decided on that eventually did the adoption of my children. Some agencies only do infants and some only do older and some only do out of the country. Then fostering to adopt is another type. So dive in and good luck |
