Anyone have any experience with PEAR?

http://www.pear-now.org/

I am looking to get more active in standards and reform with in adoption-what if any experience does anyone have with this organization? Do you feel that an organization like this can make a difference?

Briefly looked at it....

My first thought is great they are supporting open records however most of it is about the Aps/Paps wanting more "rights" for themselves. I see conflicts of interest.

They're currently working on making an adoptive parents' bill of rights, and a PAP's bill of rights...but not one for adoptees, nor for first parents.

Feels like yet again, it's all about one side of the "triad". I'm sure they have something positive to contribute...but it looks to be based on getting AP's what they want, rather than getting kids what they need.

It originally grew from a website called www.karensadoptionlinks.com and was split off in Ont 07. Both sites are run by the same person, a Karen **** somewhere in Pennsylvania who lists herself as president of Parents for Ethical Adoption Reform Now. (I blanked out her name, not the system, so that nobody would get upset although her name is clearly provided on the bottom of the karensadoptionlinks.com page.)

Overall it seems like a rather new organization with limited resources as far as web development (looks like she does it herself) but that doesn't mean that its ineffective. I'd say it's more "grass roots" then anything. I wouldn't rush to send them any money but if I felt so inclined I'd read their site and support the cause.
