Anyone have any info on Adoption? I need your advice!?

My husband and I were having problems having a child. We both got tested and my husband is fine. I was dignosed with endometrum cancer. I am on treatment for 6 months to see if they can kill the cancer...if not they have to take everything away from me. My whole life I've wanted nothing more then to be a mom and my husband was born to be a dad! Does anyone out there have any advice on adoption? I have been researching for months and have found nothing but dead ends....someone out there must know something....any advice would be wonderful!

I agree with Andraya. You need to concentrate on getting through treatments right now. Im also a cancer survivor, just had my 8 year mark.
Much continued success with your treatment.

I'm so sorry to hear about your cancer. You really need to be looking after your body right now. There will be plenty of time after your treatments to look at your options concerning adoption. Your question seems really panicked, adoption is a long journey there is plenty of time. You may pull out able to have your own children!!! For now maybe start reading about adoption and raising adopted children, learn about adoption and how it works. Also talk to other people who have adopted or are planning to adopt, talk to adoptees and first moms too! The biggest thing right now is making sure that your future children have a mother and a big part of that is beating your cancer!

I'm very sorry to hear about your medical situation. That's a horrible position to be in.

I think you need to focus on getting well before you start considering adoption. Adoption is a major life change, that involves a lot of preparation and no small amount of stress. I don't think that while you're trying to beat your cancer is a good time to divide your energy.

Once you've achieved remission and been healthy for awhile, you should look into adoption from your state's foster care system. There are thousands of foster children waiting for permanent homes, and many of their biological parents' parental rights have already been terminated, so if you wanted to adopt them, you wouldn't have to worry about them being removed from your home. If you want to parent and can open your home to a child in need, I suggest making a foster child a permanent part of your family.

But seriously, beat the cancer first. Fighting cancer is hard work, and so is preparing to adopt. I really don't think trying to do both at the same time is a good idea. You'll have plenty of time for adoption once you get yourself healthy again.

Not sure why you're finding dead ends with adoption. We did a domestic newborn adoption, and my daughter is now 3 years old. With this kinds of adoption you need to contact an agency. Also there is foster care adoption, and international adoption. All are somewhat different so it depends on you and your husband. There is a health check as part of the homestudy needed for adoption, so you may have to wait until your cancer is fully treated. However after that I would think you have lots of options to adopt. There is often a long wait, and it can be expensive depending which way you go, but there are certainly lots of successes.

Please deal with your medical issues first, then once the all clear is given the door will be opened wide to both you and daddy !
please don't bring a child in at this time to see you suffer.

Try Associated Catholic Charities and adopt an older child if your health turns out okay.
