I thought it was interesting, because people were posting their stories about unethical practices of some of the agencies - wondering if anyone had heard that it got shut down because of that.

Hmmm - interesting question.
I think it might be related to a contested adoption case in Dearborn, Michigan. The site was closed down shortly after a posting that disclosed the incompetence of a well known <clearing throat> "christian" adoption agency. The agency tried to circumvent the rights of a natural father. The natural parents lost their house and put themselves into huge debt for pay for legal fees to fight the adoption. Fortunately, they were awarded full custody of their son despite the attempts of the adoptive parents to pull legal strings to break the law.
Adoption agencies hate the truth and play dirty. In this case the adoptive couple is playing dirty too. They have appealed the rights for the natural father to raise his child. I bet they promised an "open" adoption too.

I don't know about that particular one, but I belong to a Yahoo group that serves the same function: look for adoption_agency_research. No agency reps or social workers are allowed to join to assure (somewhat) confidentiality. |
