Yes, of course we are.
If you are not reunited with your birth parents, the most defining thing about being adopted is not knowing. Not knowing what your background is. Not knowing your history or genetic makeup. My husband has always thought I was mysterious because of this. I look at my own kids and also see some mystery as a result of not knowing my past.
Ya, so "mysterious." I think the word fits. |

Oh yes, very much so. Although I prefer to call myself enigmatic, I cultivate an air of mystery in order to feel special and get more attention. Being adopted just makes it that much easier...it's just one of the many perks to being adopted.
I'm sorry. I know all of you non-adopted, average, normal, boring people are jealous of us adoptees, and I don't want to rub in your faces that you're not adopted, but that's just how it goes sometimes. Don't hate us because we're cooler than you. |

oh yeah, we can "pretend" to come from anyone, anywhere at anytime. I recommend adoption to everyone based on the super hero theory.
I came from super heroes you know.
p.s.
I can fly too |

yup definately more mysterious
lol
I just like the fact that I can look at my adoptive family who is extremely embarassing and think.....its ok Im not REALLY related to them
I just pretended that my birthparents were the coolest people ever, hence the way I turned out. :-) |

I'm not sure what you mean by "mysterious". Adoptees certainly have more unknowns, especially if there's no birth family information available. I guess the idea of having secrets in your past can seem romantic and mysterious, but usually the truth is not all that exotic. As an adoptive mom, I wish we had more info about my son's birth family and that his background was not quite so mysterious. He's only 4 now, but I know the day will come when he will want to know these things, and I won't have any answers for him. |

only to yourself because you don't know about your past, your are still a person great to know and more to know about in the future , that's what i look for, i know it was hard on my brother in law john, when he found his birth family they totally rejected him, and put a restraining order on him only after one knock on the door, they did not want anything to do with him, stupid people, they lost out on knowing a wonderful young man that had two great kids sometimes the past is a mystery left to be alone |
