Are all children who are up for adoption in the US in the foster care system?
|
Additional Details It was a simple question - not one asking for a detailed response in regards to if children should or should not be placed for adoption.

No, there is domestic infant adoption, which, since you are obviously capable of producing your own children, I strongly recommend you do not do.
In the United States domestic newborn adoption is a pretty corrupt practice, and most of the babies should be left with their biological families, except they don't know where/how to get help.
Adopting from the foster care system, if you want to adopt domestically, is the best way to adopt domestically. Adoption is about finding homes for children, not children for homes.
EDITED: What sort of answers are you looking for? You deleted your other question (which I answered) and you seem to not be happy with the answers to this question. You are NOT going to get a bunch of people extolling the virtues of you adopting on this board. Most of the people here are interested in adoption reform, and you seem to not want to hear that adoption is anything other than puppies and rainbows. You are capable of having your own children, you don't even know what sort of parent you are going to be, or if you even like being a parent, so why not wait until after your child is born to decide whether or not you want to adopt and how? What is the rush to have all the answers RIGHT now? You should do the research yourself to see what the best course of action is for you, if you really want to adopt in a few years, you have time to actually sit down and look at all the available options. |

No. There are private adoptions and adoptions through agencies. Usually if you want a newborn or a baby, you have to go through private adoptions or agencies. This will cost you $$.
Foster care adoption is basically FREE. The foster care system has kids of all ages, races, and both genders that need adoption and a loving family. Usually the kids that are "legally free" for adoption are older, generally older than 5 years old...because in MOST cases it takes times for rights of the bio-parents to be terminated.
There are babies, but they "go quickly" and you have a greater risk of them being returned to the bio-family.
Remember that the goal of foster care is re-unification with the parents. In general 50-60% of children are returned to their bio-families; 10% goto other family members and ~20-30% are legally free for adoption.
One thing I would like to stress is that even though the kids may be "older," developmentally they are usually younger..because they did not get their needs met. So, a 7 year old may still want to "cuddle" or "be around you" all the time.
Foster kids have their problems, but the reward for caring for them and adopting them is great. You are saving a life. If you have questions about FC or the kids in FC, email me or connect to see my responses to people.

It depends on what you mean by "up for adoption." Do you mean who are placed for adoption at all, or who wait for families?
It is certainly possible to adopt a newborn privately. But it costs a great deal, and has a wait time of months, or even years, before a baby is placed with the prospective adoptive parents. More people want newborns than there are newborns being placed in homes. These babies do not wait for families; families wait for them. Given they are placed shortly after birth with someone who was waiting for them, they are not "up for adoption" in the sense of being in need of families with no families wanting to raise them, though they are adopted.
Foster care is the only place where children legally free for adoption actually wait for families. The children in foster care are the ones who are at serious risk of never finding an adoptive placement, unlike newborns. I think people considering adoption should at least look into foster care adoption, because these are the children truly in need of homes. |

No, if the child is a newborn up for adoption it is very unlikely that it will end up in the foster care system. |

To answer your question no not all babies are in the us system my husband and I just recently adopted a baby and he was not in the system, you might get lucky like us and be asked to take a baby from an individual. |

No. That's not the point. There are children up for adoption all over the world. But do they need to be? Is that really the best option for those particular kids? SHOULD they be up for adoption? Should they maybe stay with their mother? The kids in the foster care system who's parents have had their rights terminated have no other options. There are no better options, they would not be better off with their mothers, and they should be up for adoption. And they will wait and wait and wait until someone comes along who isn't worried about obtaining the perfect healthy infant to soothe their desires. |
