Are biological children conceived for the "best interest of the child?"?

No they are not.
People bring children into the world for the same reason that people adopt them: they want to be parents.
The methodology may be different, but the intent is the same. |

No. People plan to have children because they want to be parents. |

IDK!!

Wow, I was thinking this today......
All the to do about how APs need to be at a certain "level" of "whatever" because the "chose" to bring a child into their lives, but what about the people who "chose" to get pregnant?
are they to be hald to the same standard? |

Not always.
Many times, more and more children are conceived with no thought to the child. The conception occurs simply due to the parents desire and pleasure. Most times when couples become pregnant and they weren't planning it, they are happy and choose to keep the baby and take care of the baby, some parents decide they don't want the baby.
Sometimes though parents decide on having children long before conception occurs and makes plans that are in the best interest of their child.
I guess it is not really conception that is in the best interest, rather the planning that occurs before and/or after and the way the parents raise the child, that is the best interest of the child. |

Some people are going to say, what does this have to do with adoption? I think it has everything to do it. WHY? Because a lot of people here on this adoption site says that most adoptive parents do not adopt for the best interest of the child. Well, I know some biological parents that never had their children's best interest at heart. My husband's family is one of them. His mother and father, never had his best interest at heart. |

While some here are too closed minded to see the wisdom of your question I have to say that I do. Nothing like turning the tables eh?
As far as if biological children are conceived for the best interest of the child, I think the point is moot since prior to conception there is no child therefore there is nothing to be for in the best interests.
But in the broader context, obviously it's in the best interest of the child to be conceived just as it's in the best interest of the child who has been conceived and for what ever reason was given/placed into care to be adopted.
Are all adopted children better off, not necessarily however at the same time are all children conceived to families better off....not necessarily as well. Neither option is perfect although we try. |

Not all children are conceived in ideal situations, obviously.
Would it be in the better interest of the child not to exist at all, though? I think each person would have to answer that themselves; I'm not sure how to speak for anyone else about their existence. |

I doubt it.
Dogs are conceived sometimes for the best interest of the breed, and other times due to total lack of thought.
The same probably holds true for children. Some people have children because they want to give a child a loving life. Other people have a child because they just weren't thinking about what they were doing.
There's no reason to believe parents always conceive for "the best interest of the child" or "never for the best interest of the child". That's just too assumptive.
like your first responder accurately stated, this has nothing to do with adoption! It's posted in the wrong area.

No, I don't think they are, but this isn't the reproduction category, this is the adoption section therefore questions pertaining to how adoptions happen, how children are adopted and the reasons behind that are absolutely necessary.
eta: I "see" the reason she's asking the question. But there are vastly different things to take into consideration when you're adopting and choosing to conceive.
When a child enters a family via "adoption" they have a history, trauma has happened to them from loss of the family, self etc. that doing it for "selfish" reasons overlooks the seriousness that should be held in the highest regards to adoptees.
When conceiving on your own, natually by mistake, or by choice, you are bringing life to the child, as the childs only family. Your child is entering the world, created to want everything the mother has, good or bad. There isn't separation trauma. Things can be a little different.
However, as different as they can be, i would never advocate for people to have a child naturally to fulfill their own needs. Thats not healthy for ANY child. Children aren't here to fullfill their parents needs. They're here to be supported, loved, cherished and parents shouldn't be so selfish as to think that their needs come first. EVER. |

Why does every one assume people relinquish there children because they are poor. The gov't pays for everything nowadays. WHAT ABOUT WHEN THE CHILD IS PLACED BECAUSE OF AN UNSTABLE ENVIRONMENT. There may be things your parents didn't want you to live through. |

This is a silly question unless you look at it like this - people may or may not choose their biological children but it is certain that they choose their adoptive ones. |

Biological Families are different to Adoptive families
ETA: Usually they are, yes. It is in the best interest of the child to remain with a loving mother with whom she has bonded whilst still in utero |

Hmmm... I assume you are asking if people try to get pregnant because they want a baby or because it is the right time in their lives to have a baby.
I believe that all parents wait until they know they are ready for a baby. But there are lots of considerations to take into account. If you have a baby when you are too young and not married you may not be able to support the child, if you want until you are older and have a career that pays well with great benefits, you may not be around enough for the child when they need you (sports, clubs, always in daycare, etc.) or you might not be in as great of shape to have a healthy pregnancy or care for your child the way you could when you were younger.
There are many factors when deciding if it is best for the child.
My husband and I are trying for a baby right now. We are younger and we are financially stable. We both have jobs and a small savings. However, we'll probably be better off money-wise in several years but we would prefer to have children at a younger age. We will be able to afford a child, but we won't be able to send him or her to private schools and go on expensive vacations every year.
I still believe that we are choosing to conceive with our future baby's best interests in mind. |

If they were conceived for this reason, there wouldn't be an adoption section.
Adoption is for the children who for one reason or another, which can vary for MANY different reasons, that the biological parents can't raise them.
It can be because they're conceived out of wedlock, and rather than breaking up a marriage, or between two young people, who can't raise a child by themselves; because of illness, if a mother is terminal; because of many other reasons.
Some children are conceived with the parents having great thought before conception, and do a great job, some are conceived illigitimately and still loved and a great job is done; but MANY times, children who are conceived because of a heat of the moment deal, or between people who aren't thinking, their best interests are not taking into consideration, even after they're born, unfortunately.
If biological parents had to undergo the same tests, the homestudies, the waiting, the critisism, and other things that adoptive parents go through, then the end of the human race would probably be a lot closer coming. |

What does this question have to do with adoption. Apples and oranges.
Giving birth is a god given right to those that have functioning equipment....adoption is not a right.
Edit: I see your connection to Adoption. I say No they are not always conceived in the best interest of children especially when a teen was repeatedly raped throughout their adolescence because there are foreigners desperately waiting to buy her babies. |
