Are some parents just using the foster care system (for a temporary vacation or like a free summer camp)?

Are some parents just using the foster care system (for a temporary vacation or like a free summer camp)?

Similar to some people using abortion as a form of birth control?
Additional Details
is it not true that any mother can go to their social work office and drop off thier children if they need assistance with them?

In some abuse cases the foster system is a life-saver for kids. Any parent who would think of foster care as a vacation needs to have the kids removed permanently.

Are you effing serious? Do you have ANY clue how hard it is to get your children back once they are caught in the system? Do you have even the slightest idea how many hoops you jump through and how many contortion acts you perform before they even CONSIDER allowing you to have your children in you own home for visits???

Obviously not. I can not think of ANYWHERE that is lax enough to let a child enter the system and then be released back to their parents in such a short time period. When I placed, yeah you heard me I put him in care they didn't take him, my son in care I was told that he would not be home for at least a year... he NEVER CAME HOME!

Your question is just sick.

AND KEEP YOUR ROSARIES OFF MY OVARIES! Bringing your personal view on abortion into a subject such as foster care is nothing more than you wanting to be on a soap box, there is zero similarity between the two.

I am a former county social worker who directly worked with the families, children in foster care, peripheral service providers and family courts. Your question is absolutely baffling in its lunacy. People cannot place their children at will and then just go get them whenever they want. Once a child is in foster care, the state becomes the legal custodian -- a legal custodian which automatically sees the parents as suspect, no matter the reason for placement.

After a child is in foster care, a family court judge must order the child be returned home. A parent cannot just pick up the child at will. The child usually remains in care. Even if the child is returned home, the state remains involved in the family's life, requiring regular visitation from the social worker, classes, therapy sessions and a host of other requirements before the case can ever be closed.

Foster care as a "vactation?" Wow.

i don't see the correlation between the two, sry.

Riiiight.

Just like some people use Y!A to vent their anger and envy of people who can procreate.
