...entirely on his own, without the assistance of the natural mother?
If so how old were you and how did you feel about him growing up before he found you?

{{{Birthdad in hell}}} Shout out & hugs to ya!
My birth father knew my 1st mom was pregnant, heard that she'd had the baby, thought it was a girl. And that's about all he knew. My 1st mom moved to another state (to be with her mom) before having me. Then moved again to California before I was a year old. I was taken from her & placed in foster care b/c she was a poor working mom before public aid (welfare).
So basically, he didn't have any information to BEGIN a search for me. No birth date, place, name, adoption information, etc. However, when I contacted him asking for a medical history, he immediately said, "I'd like to meet you!" I was 26, he was 47 & a grandpa. Surprise!
According to the court records, DSS looked at my maternal grandmother's home as a possible placement. But because she had a heart condition, she was ruled out. DSS knew who my birth father was & where he lived, but never attempted to contact him. Had they done so, he & his wife would have gladly taken me into their hearts & home. It makes me sad that he wasn't even asked. His wife considers me her "other daughter" to this day!
Many men don't deal well with messy emotional issues & all the drama. That doesn't mean they don't feel deeply. They just may have trouble with the roller coaster of emotions that searching & reunion bring.
Great question! |

I think it is pretty rare. A lot of men do not know any details surrounding the relinquishment of their child.
I would have been thrilled, though. |

No. I never have ever heard a word about him or her. They haven't that I know of ever searched for me, and I doubt they ever will. I live in MD and adoption records are sealed here so who really knows. |

I'd like to erase my step father adopting me and simply go back to being my real Fathers daughter. Rather than paying to be re-adopted...dissolving the adoption seems to make more sense.
