Can I adopt children even if I am not married?
|
Time is passing by for me and it seems I won't get married and I wanted to give some homeless babies the opportunity to grow up, learn, live a healthy and fulfilling life, like my own.
Will the social services allow me to adopt those children even if I am not married?
I just wish it is possible, because I believe that with or without a second parent, children living in a house with a caring person is much better than living in the orphanage!

Yes, you can adopt out of foster care if you are single. And there are also some countries that allow singles to adopt. You would not be able to adopt from China, Korea, or Taiwan, but there are other countries (such as Russia) that allow singles to adopt. Wishing you the best! |

Yes you can still adopt as a single parent. Each county and state has different laws and requirements. Your best bet is to contact a local foster care agency or an adoption lawyer to find out your options. A private adoption may be easier but a state adoption may cost less and the state will help by providing support services. |

Your local dss will probably allow you to adopt if you are single. My local agency is like that, they don't require any specific religious beliefs, married or divorced or single are allowed, and you don't have to own your own home. You do need to be able to financially provide for yourself. Good luck and best wishes! |

Of course you can adopt as a single parent.

It might take a little longer, and you might have to be a bit less picky as to the child you get (maybe a different race, gender, and it probably won't be an infant), but yes you can adopt! |
