Can i adopt a baby my son found?
|
oneday my son, charlie, was playing outside when he found a baby girl. he picked her up and took her home. she is a beautiful newborn who had been abandoned. charlie is begging us to keep her as he badly wants a sibling. i really love her too. she is adorable, with the biggest bright eyes and thick, curly hair. i had always wanted another child. do you think we will be able to keep her? if she does end up staying, her name will be luciana rosa.

You should call children's services and the police immediately. This is not your child and they need to be contacted in case someone is looking for her.
They will be able to discuss all the possible options once they are contacted, but get on the phone and do the right thing. that child may have been kidnapped and abandoned or may be the child of a scared teenager, either way, she is not yours. |

So you just, found a baby? right. if this really happened authorities need to be notified. |
|

Happy to be her mommy
|
you sound like a 10 year old. she's A CHILD NOT A PUPPY!
Report her missing to the police immediately and go from there. You need to seek legal help (and maybe mental help too) and grow up. seriously, the priority is finding this baby's parents, not picking out names!!! |

No.. you have to call the police obviously.
The child belongs to someone else and may have been kidnapped. Also, it would look very suspicious that you have no paperwork for her. |

I pray to gawd that this is a joke. This baby (if it truly exists...) doesn't belong to you. This baby could be the victim of a crime. This baby belongs to someone, and you need to call the authorities NOW. This could be a crime, and if you keep this baby one second, you are an accessory. Do the right thing. |

are you sure your son found her? im not saying he kidnapped her or anything but what if he thought she was abandoned? i dont know you should obviously call the police and do things the right way...if its meant to be its meant to be... |

oh man.
anyone who wouldn't contact the police immediately doesn't deserve another child. and if this was even true, which i doubt - what kind of example would you be setting for charlie to keep a child he picked up and took home? |

Notify the police.
For all youknow the baby could have been kidnapped, or the mother was in a dangerous situation that caused the beby to be abandoned. Ultimately you don't know, and one day the little baby girl you found will want to know. If you made no effort to find her biological mother and do the right thing it will likely backfire on you. Think 20 years down the track, not just whats happening today.
It might make a good fairytale story of a baby being found and raised by the people who found her, and its all happily ever after........but in reality it doesn't always work that way. |

If this is true, which I highly doubt, you need to contact the police immediately. This child deserves police intervention - whether it was a kidnapping, an abandonment, whatever. Not to mention, if the child is reported as missing, and you are found with the child, you will be arrested for kidnapping. Children are not strays. You can not simply "find" them and keep them. |

this is sad if it's a joke. |

Actually why didn't you ring the police immediately?
This sounds very suspect as any responsible adult would have done that immediately. In fact I'm shocked your neighbours, family, friendsdidn't also suggest this. |

You have to call the police. Maybe she is not abandoned, she is just lost. Before you adopt her, you need to know her parents too cuz when she grew up, she will ask for her real parents. If you want to have another child, just have it with your spouse. |

Only if you go through the proper channels which includes reporting this to the police and DSS/CPS/DYFS. The baby will have to be declared abandoned by the Court and you will have to be approved as the adoptive parent. You will need a background check, home study, classes, fingerprints, paperwork, etc.
If you do not do this properly, you can be charged as a criminal - even if you are a wonderful parent to her. |

You need to call the police. How long ago was "charlie" playing when he found this baby? By not calling the police you may be breaking a whole bunch of laws. |

What a nice story. Make it more detailed, and separate them into chapters. Describe the moment so that I can just imagine it so vividly. Email me when it is done!

I would definitely keep the child and keep watch on the pictures of milk cartons. If you contact the State they will hide and seal any evidence that might give the child a clue to her real Identity when she reaches legal age. At least in your custody you will be able to provide her with all the information that you have acquired about her while she's growing up. If your from the State of Florida I wouldn't worry about the State officials they work under the presumption that the child has no right to their true identity no matter if their now 20 or 50 years old. The birth parents are also denied any information that would help them locate their child, even if the birth mother was transported to Florida for the sole reason to give birth to the child and then immediately put the child up for adoption because of her families religious principles even if it was totally against the father's wishes and knowledge. The only group that might be upset would be the lawyers and adoption agencies who couldn't make any money on the situation. Don't worry about any emotional impact it might have on one or both of the birth parents or the child, this is irrelative in the State of Florida. |

I would get both the police and social services in your area involved. Someone obviously either kidnapped or neglected this child. If she's not a missing child and they find you to be fit and able to take care of her, then you can more than likely be able to adopt her though the process would take quite sometime. And, there coudl be other problems with it too. Also, you obviously can't have her if she's someone else's child but that person would also be VERY looked into, since they ditched their child. |
