I would say it's unlikely that you can adopt if he has a record. Unless, you have a friend or someone who knows you who will let you adopt their baby privately.

If you go through an agency, your husband's record is probably going to hold you back.

From what I understand, there are thousands and thousands of dollars in fees for adoption. Unless, maybe your planning to adopt a foster child?

It would be easier to get a vasectomy reversal and take your chances. They tend to run about $5,000 and are much cheaper than adopting. You will have to pay this cost yourself. The military won't.

More then likely yes it might depend on what they were and how long ago, they do a pretty extensive background check for adoptions.. Good luck.... 20,000 I would double check, that seems to be an awful lot, not sure what adoption cost but it may be cheaper to do the surgery..

Since they were violent crimes they may play a big part in whether or not you will be able to adopt.

It might make them raise an eyebrow, and they may have to let potential birth mother's know about it and let them decide.

Adoption, unless you are adopting an older child out of foster care, can cost that much or more...it starts at $10,000 but is almost always much higher.

Look up adoption agencies in your area and call or email them with your questions. They should be happy to answer them!

Depends on where you go. Most agencies would not let him adopt. Any kind of violent criminal background is an automatic turn down.

So you may be able to go to a private adoption attorney and go that route.

Adoptive mom here, so I understand wanting to be a mom and I can't speak for domestic adoption, but your husband's criminal record excludes you from ever being able to adopt internationally. ALL IA programs state that a PAP cannot have a criminal record, period.

Maybe, Because it was a violent crime what degree are the assaults? As long as they are not felony degree i think he'll b ok he may have to write a letter or something but should be ok

They may ask your hubby to take classes in order to show he is serious. Since they are so far back it shouldnt be a huge deal. you should be able to call an adoption agency and ask them about it.
