My best friend needs help, and I would love to have my mom adopt her. My mom said that years ago she considered adopting her, so maybe I can convince her again.
I know it would be difficult to take in a teenager, but my friend really needs me.
Can anybody tell me what goes into adopting someone, and if you can adopt from a home.
Thanks! I really think this could be the best thing for my friend. Please help me.

Okay, it depends. What kind of home do you mean?
If you mean a foster home, then maybe. It is possible to be in a foster home, when the parent's rights aren't terminated, in which case, they would have to be terminated before an adoption can take place.
If you mean a group home, then probably not, because that usually means that the rights of the parents have not been terminated.
If you mean an orphanage, then yes, the rights have most likely been terminated, and they are up for legal adoption.
If you are young, the chances of legal adoptions are smaller, but still possible. It might take longer, and you may have more obstacles.

yes you can... you would just have 2 have it all notarized.. so the parents dont come through and try to get the child back.. we adopted my little sister from a home and my family has adopted other kids from a home and not an organization |

Yes you can adopt from a home but you have to go through the courts. You first step is to contact the presiding judicial system in your area. |
