It's a story I'm making.
I can't give details, but can someone take a child in (who is not related to them by blood) , and that child and their blood child still can marry?
I know adopting apparently doesn't work - if they have an adopted child, and a blood child and they marry, apparently it's still illegal due to inheritance.
Oh, if they're godparents, can they take them in but not adopt them? Would it be weird that the adopted child and the godparent's actual blood child got married?

Yes, I know that this storyline's been made millions of times, but it's only experimental. I guess it was just a weird way of writing my feelings out. In other wards, no one will see this but me. I'm not writing it for others to read - it's just an experimental way of writing my feelings out. :)
And, I thought I'd try it out. Take my shot at it? There's a twist I'm playing in the story, but whatever. :p

According to law, it is illegal for me to marry my adoptive brother, even though we are not genetically related. Eeew. But since the law does not recognize my biological brother as my brother, we can get married and have defective babies. Makes sense, huh?
My Godparents are not related to me in anyway, so I could marry their son.
A Godparent is not legally recognized in a court of law, only in the eyes of the church.(I used to be Catholic) They are responsible to see that their Godchild receives the Sacraments of the Church if the child's parents die.
If you mean "take someone in" as in allowing the child to live with you w/o legally adopting the child, then yes, the "taken in" child can marry the do-gooders blood child.

Yes as long as their parents or legal guardians don't object. And as long as the two are not legally related, yes they can marry. |

My brother married my step sister, and I know of one other couple who have done this also. One of my sons friends started dating a girl and him mother is now going to marry her father. They have been told they have to stop dating.
ETA: I didn't say my brother married her while living in the same house. They dated, went their own ways, each married, my brother twice, and found each other again after 20 some years. The other couple did how ever marry while living under the same roof as their parents. |

i don't know what time or place your setting your story in, but in the us if you wanted to do this the best way to go would be foster care. all kinds of crazy **** goes down with foster children |
