Chinese Adoption Help.?

I'm looking into adopting a baby from China, but I'm also looking for an agency that will allow some one under 30 to adopt. I'm living in Greece, so I know I have to wait until my husband turns 30 before he can legally adopt. But the problem is I won't be 30 when he is.
Are there agencies that will allow an adoption if one is 30 and the other is 26? Right now I just want to research agencies, so I would love some help looking^_^ Additional Details Ok, thanks everyone. I wasn't sure if the rule was set by China or the agencies.

It's not the agency's call. It's the rule laid out by that particular Country, so all agencies will tell you the same. |

The Chinese government requires BOTH adoptive parents to be between the ages of 30-50, it's not up to the individual agencies. China has a higher minimum age then most countries, so if you do not wish to wait 4 years to start the process, and then 2-4 additional years until a child is placed with to then you may want to consider another country. |

The qualifications that an adoptive parent must meet for any given international adoption program is determined by the country in question, not the agency. Every agency with a program in that country must hold to the same requirements. |

You will have to wait in till you are both at least 30. The china adoption criteria is country wide not from agency to agency. You will not find another agency that will allow you to adopt from China under their age requirement. Really it only be 4 more years it may seem like a lot but it will go by. Plus it could give you time to truly prepare. Like learning china culture, learn to make meals and even learn the native tongue. Or you could look at a different country to adopt from. |

Everyone here is right, China will not allow you to adopt until you turn 30. You can start researching agencies now, saving money, etc. I know a lot of people start doing their "paper chase" about 6 months or so before their 30th bday, so that they can turn in their completed dossier (paperwork) right when they turn 30. That could be an option.
Also, right now, China is slowing down on referrals, so the wait is very long right now. Look into it and research it. We have been waiting over 18 months for our second child and we have a looong wait to go.
Good luck! |

Any reason you are stuck on China. The wait is getting close to 5 years now and who knows if the program will still be open by then. There are other countries that you would qualify for now. |

We adopted our gorgeous daughter from China in 2006, so I can tell you that China makes the rules regarding who is eligible to adopt its children, NOT the agencies. You BOTH have to be 30 when your dossier is sent to China. However, like another poster said, you may be able to begin your paper chase and have the documents ready for when you do turn 30. However, that is at the discretion of your agency and social worker, and many will not work with anyone under 30.
In October, China sent out referrals up to February 15th, 2006, which means they are now almost 3 years behind. People logging in now will be waiting 5+ years. You may wish to look into other countries, which would have a shorter wait time and will allow those under 30 to adopt. Do your research, not only on the agency, but also on the country, including the language, culture and heritage.
Good luck!! |

China has new rules in place. Only people who have been married for two years can adopt (five if it is a second marriage for one partner) and you must both be over thirty. There are other countries with children in orphanages that have less strict policies. You need to wait till you are older or look into a different country. |

Like everyone else said, the rule is that of China. BOTH parents have to be over 30. Have you checked into other countries though? The legal age in Kazakhstan (we my husband and I are hoping to adopt from) is only 25. Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, and Ethiopia are also only 25 |
