Dallas Fort Worth Area Help a Sister Out!!!?

hi. my husband and i are going to adopt from DFPS, but we need an agency to work with and im just finding it imposable to find a good one. So i was hoping someone could give me the name of one they used and maybe a little about the experience. also we need one that doesn't require that both my husband and i have life and health insurance, just that one of us does. thanks so much, in advance, for your help. hope you all have a great day.

I cut and pasted the below from http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/Adoption_and_Foster_Care/Adoption_Partners/private.asp#7 We also got a listing of the agencies when we went to the informational meeting.

Sorry, we haven't used anyone in the Dallas area, so can't give a recommendation. We live in Region 7 and use The Settlement Home and have had friends use Pathways. Both are excellent. I am the only one who carries medical insurance for the family and the only one with life insurance (it didn't seem to matter to our agency). To evaluate the agencies, we reviewed all the online information (googled every center to find their web page), then called all the agencies in our area we liked from the information provided, and the ones that still seemed nice, we made an appointment to visit. Having a friendly and supportive Agency makes a big inpact on your experience. You need to build a relationship with them, so make sure the ones you will work with are nice and trustworthy. I would recommend getting foster care certified as well and when you get the chance, fostering the children you want to adopt first. The records the kids have before are not always correct, some issues may have been glossed over, some issues that seem big are nothing. Fostering first (even for just a few months) gives you and the child time to get to know each other, before that next step of adoption, so it works for everyone in the long run. I also think you have more resources available to help you and the children if you foster first (if it is medical, emotional, physical, respite, or just support and someone to call).

Feel free to email me with any questions and Good Luck - it is a great experience!
