I would contact a lawyer and let them explain the process to you. They will be able to tell you what you have to do and the cost involved. Let the lawyer file the papers and do all the paper work, as you want it all to be correct and completely legal when it is done. The how to papers from the internet and bookstore are good for living wills and such, but for adoption you want to make sure it is all correct and paperwork is filed in the right way so you know there is nothing to worry about.

It shouldn't cost too much money, all you have to do is file a motion for him to adopt her and the father has to agree or it's a no go.
If you want to you can get a lawyer to help with the papers but you can google how to do it and get forms at the court house or they have them at the book store (in "how to books")
