Do any other adoptees wish they were born to their adoptive parents?

I do. We are very close and I am more like them then my bio family. My bios aren't bad people. We just have nothing in common.

i can clearly remember telling my mother specifically that i wished i was just simply born into this family.
i remember crying about that a lot.... |

Welcome! I see you are a brand new poster!
No.
In fact, I was crying once, when I was coaxed into a 'talk' about adoption (what was the point, really, when there was nothing to talk about being a closed adoption) and my amother asked what I was crying about.
I told her I was crying because I wished she was my mother. This was a total LIE. I knew if I told her I was crying because I wanted my own mother it would hurt her feelings. |

No. I love my adoptive parents, but we have nothing in common. They aren't bad people, but not being biologically related to them helps explain why we are so different. |

No. I can't say as I have ever even though about wishing that. |

God no!
The one and only 'blessing' of being adopted by them is that I am NOT related -- including less likelihood that I am, or will be, anything like them. |

That can happen in any family situation. I have nothing in common with the rest of my family, but found out I have a lot in common with my daughter once we met. |

I was adopted by another family member. But no, I didn't wish that. I use to wish that I had been born to a whole different family though, as I can't stand the one I did get. LoL |

My daughter has mentioned it before.
It's in the context of the childhoods that American children experience as opposed to the childhoods that children in her home country experienced.
My daughter is not always forthcoming with information about her past and given its traumatic nature, I'm careful not to press. But from what I've pieced together, she would much rather have had a carefree childhood in America than a war-ravaged childhood in her homeland.
Can't say I blame her, really.
I'm curious as to adoptees that came from abusive or otherwise traumatic situations before adoption feel the same? |

Sometimes I do.
Other times I would not give up my Chinese heritage for anything.
Depends on how things are going in my life and how connected I feel to either side of my family. |

Interesting question. Although I am extremely close to my a-family, I am probably much more like my birth family. I think that if I was born into my a-family they would be less understanding of my black-sheepness lol. As it stands, they do their best to be supportive of my unsual (to them) decisions, because they know that I am just not like them at all.
So ultimately, I am glad it worked out the way it did, even with the abandonment issues I spent forever working through lol! |

My life might have been a lot easier if I had been born to my adoptive parents. Wouldn't have had such an identity crisis over race, would know my real birthdate, would have had bonding time with my real mom. I might not be someone who struggles daily with abandonment issues.
But I think if I was born to my adoptive parents, I wouldn't be me. My past, my struggles, and my pain all contribute to who I am now. And I would say I'm pretty freaking awesome. LOL But in all seriousness, where I've come from has made me stronger, braver, and more of a fighter than I probably ever could have become if I was born to my aps. |

my best friend is adopted and he truly wishes his adopted parents were his real parents because his biological dad beat the crap out of him and his adopted parents rock. |

i think it depends on the family that adopted you :)
i would have liked for them to have been my bio parents, but i feel like they are anyway. but i was always the oddball of the fam. blond hair and blue eyes and everyone else brown hair and brown eyes. |

I do, too. I'm not even interested in my bio family. My A-parents are my real parents. They're all I need. |
