WOW - this is a new low.
Do you not even care about how the child will feel once they've grown up??
"Hi - my mother sold me to the highest bidder".
UGH.
It's illegal to exchange money for a human being.
If you really are pregnant - make sure you read this -
http://www.cubirthparents.org/booklet.pdf
Although I really am worried that you care nothing about what an adoption would mean to the child down the track. |

No. It is illegal to pay someone in exchange for receipt of another human being. It has been since slavery was outlawed. You don't get paid for giving up your child. That would be selling another human being, which is illegal. Some agencies and potential adoptive parents will help with living expenses and/or medical expenses related to the pregnancy and birth. |

Well, you have solved the problem of poverty.... Just have women get pregant and then sell their babies.
It makes me ill that you really believe you should get paid to have a baby and give it away.
Buy some birth control and condoms and GET A JOB to make money. |

What are you, baby farming? You just asked a very similar question.
It is illegal to buy or sell a baby. Birth mothers can sometimes have their medical care, and perhaps SOME of their living expenses during pregnancy, reimbursed but aside from that they DO NOT get paid. Any money exchanged, directly or indirectly, is closely governed to avoid any legal activity. In states that allow some money to be paid out to the birth mother, it is limited to medical care, and REASONABLE living expenses (so as to not be construed as bribery). |

No, it is illegal to get money for a child. A human being cannot sell another human being.
BTW, Inde: Did you really advocate that someone deliberately defraud PAPs in order to get their birth/living expenses paid for? |

I am very sad that you are looking to "sell" your baby or profit from giving the munchkin away. I am sure that there are some people desperate for a baby and would pay you illegally. But it's about the saddest thing I've ever heard for all involved. |

No, it's not a job. again the adoption agency may pay medical and living expenses. you will not get any check to spend anyway you want. |

No, it is illegal, however, many mothers do accept money for kids. I've seen questions asked here of how much one should ask for their child, and I've seen desperate people who say, "I'll give you anything you want for the baby". It happens in real life, and also, women take money for their kids more often then people would like to think. They do it for drugs, or just so they can get back to their partying life. It's horrible! |

It depends on which states are involved. Each state has their own laws, determining what the bparents can receive. No state allows for cash or a lump sum payment in any way. However, a few will allow a variety of 'living expenses', such as rent/mortgage, groceries, car payment, utilities (as long as it's deemed necessary for living by a judge), in addition to medical/legal expenses and counseling.
So, do they get 'paid'? Directly, no. Indirectly, yes.
ETA: I think I've seen a new low here tonight. |

If they are going through a private adoption agency, then the foster / adoptive parents may help her out with rent / food...etc...but no they do not get paid! |

Get paid? It's not like it's a job. With some adoption agreements, the parents adopting pay for medical treatment of the birthmother. |

no. that's unethical and just plain wrong.
its a selfless act of love, plain and simple. |

Many of the answers above are quite wrong. It is correct that the birth parents are not "paid for their child." However, they are paid reasonable living expenses (the expenses must be disclosed and approved prior to being charged), lost wages, and they can also get some compensation for their time to meet with the adoption agency or lawyer.
The bottom line is, the birth parents generally don't lose any money because they gave birth (lost work, expenses associated with the pregnancy, etc.) |

No but what you can do is talk to an attorney about how much financial support they can legally give you. After you give birth tell them Paps that you want to keep the baby. Legally they can't make you repay them. |
