Do your parents have a say in putting your child up for adoption?
|
If I ever get pregnant I told my parents I would put it up for adoption. My mom got mad and said that I'm not going to your parents have a say whether your an adult or not if you put your kid of for adoption and they have a say in if they get custody of it. No way would I want my child raised by those people who put me through many years of emotionally torture and who think it's okay to beat kids!

Laws can vary from state to state, but in most, becoming pregnant, from a legal stand point only, is considered something that forces a person to become an adult thinker. The laws have been put into place to protect women from having their babies taken away from them and placed for adoption (happened a lot in the past), and it works 2 ways.
When it comes to this, the girl who is pregnant can enter into an adoption plan. It may become necessary for her to become an emancipated minor, meaning that a judge makes the decision that she is an adult and capable of her decisions. Many parents railroad and bully their teens who become pregnant both into placing a child, or into keeping it.
There are states where grandparent rights come into the process, like in Florida, where if a woman lives with her parents, and decides to place a child for adoption, she cannot without the consent of the parents. In your parents' place, it might be possible to declare them unfit.
Good luck on not getting pregnant! |

Biological family would have a pretty easy time adopting your child if you were a minor. I would suggest just not getting pregnant until you are ready for a child. |

they could not stop you from placing your child for adoption. The only thing they could do is offer to adopt the child themselves. But if you believe the child would be best not raised by them then you definitely would get the chance to voice your opinion and they probably would not be able to. |

No they would have no say in whether you placed a baby up for adoption regardless of your age placing a baby for adoption is completely up to the biological parents(mother and father). Now if you wanted let your parents or someone in your family adopt the baby you could do that but again just like in any situation if your planning to be hooked up with PAP before your baby is born or even after it would be up to you/father who adopts your baby unless your released the baby to the foster care system. It dose not seem like your parents would even qualify to adopt.
I don’t know if your meaning at this time you’re not able to parent if you got pregnant or even you just don’t want to be a parent. If that is the case I would suggest you get your tubes tied then you will never have to worry about getting pregnant. |

This is one time your mother is completely wrong.
YOU and only YOU (well the bio dad too) have a say in whether you keep, abort, or put a baby up for adoption.
Trust me, she's totally wrong.
And your mom getting custody is up to you as well. If you wanted to give her custody, you could assuming she was approved and was proven fit.
But as the mother of your child (potential child) you would go to the agency and choose the parents you wanted OR you would choose people you knew to parent. That decision is yours and not your mom's. An agency would laugh her out the door. |

I don't think your parents have any say about it. Well unless your are a minor. In that case the laws very from state to state. If you are at least 18 then she couldn't do anything and she is just letting off hot air.
