I work for an agency that is a Chinese only adoption agency. I do know that they have a very stable, affordable program. Lots of baby girls but boys are also available. The wait right now is close to 3 years but if you go the special needs route the wait is much shorter. We adopted our daughter from China 4 years ago and she is an amazing child. So glad we did it! I have three children from China, and I'm glad I was able to adopt them before the rules changed. Here is the current info on adoptions from China:
Adoptive parents must be married for at least 2 years.
If one was divorced previously, they must be married for at least 5 years.
No more than 4 children currently in the home.
Adoptive parents cannot have a BMI (Body Mass Index) of over 40 (cannot be morbidly obese).
Family income must be at least $10,000 per family member, including the new child to be adopted.
Family net worth must be $80,000.
If an adoptive parent has had cancer or a transplanted organ, at least 10 years must have elapsed.
Borrower may not have taken medications for any mental illness (including depression and anxiety) for at least 2 years.
The process now takes over 3 years, and costs around $20,000. |
