Does anyone know anything about adoption?
|
I'm doing a project on adoption for religion class.
I need to think of research questions about adoption. They have to be intelligent/thoughtful, but I also have to be able to answer them.
Here's what I have so far:
-What are the advantages/disadvantages of adoption
-What type of adoption are there?
-How does adoption affect the birth parents? The child?
I need some more. Mine aren't as specific as they should be. Thanks =)

Most states in the US do not allow adoptees access to their birth records. There is no other demographic that is denied access to their own personal records. This isn't something widely known about adoption, so it would make for an educational paper.
Good luck. |

Hmm I don't know any questions to add really, but i will kind of give you a hint of the questions you have there.
I'm adopted, so i will try to help you to the best of my knowledge.
What are the advantages/disadvantages of adoption.
Parents point of view
Disadvantages
- you have to wait over a year to adopt the child, take all of these classes, have people invade your house, to make sure you can financially afford it, and everything.(my mom told me that)
Advantages
- They have me, and I brighten their day with laughter and everything!!
My point of view, as a child.
Disadvantages
- I dont know my like health, so if cancer or heart
problems run on my dad or moms side of the family.
Advantages
- I finally have like a place to call home, where
i know I wont be kicked out at 18, with a little bit of money.
What type of adoption are there?
from my knowledge there is,
- Open Adoption - where the mother of the child can still be apart of the child's life.
- Closed adoption - where the mother has nothing to do with the child, she can say if she wants her kid to contact her if the kid wants when they get older, or not.
How does adoption affect the birth parents? The child?
Birth parents - You know my mom, biological mom, gave me and my other two sisters up when i was 3. & I guess she really didn't care because while we were in the system, she was raising her girlfriends kid! which was screwed up. I met my mother, and hated her, I know thats wrong, but she put my sisters and i through hell, which no kid should go through.
The child - being adopted was like the best thing that's ever happened to me! Seriously like knowing that I can be loved by people
and that they care about me, just makes me feel a lot better. I came with a lot of baggage, I'm bi-polar, and i have depression and so much more, because of the way my first 7 years of life were. But you know I sometimes forget about that because I'm here, I got to experience something that my sisters couldn't because they were never adopted; and they tell me how lucky I am to be adopted!!
I hoped I helped a bit, sorry if i got a little off topic, its just something thats really close to me!! |

Here are some questions for your project.
What is the process that a person has to go through in order to adopt a child. Both locally and internationally?
What is the difference between foster care and adoption?
What are the long term repercussions of child being told later in life that they were adopted? (You may have to go to other websites to find more rounded information about this question.)
What is the difference between a closed adoption and an open adoption?
What is an adoption plan?
What kind of books are there about adoption?
I hope these help, all the best for your project. |

how about an ethical approach. like why every member of the triad is lied to.
or how we are 'forever' children that need to be protected from invisible evil
what rational reasons there are to not allowing us access to our birth records even though there is no clear law saying we cant have it. we are just 'not entitled" to it. (thats what i was told)
or the lack of heritage, thats nice not knowing what nationality you come from
i have more if you are interested. let me know |

Advantages of adoption.....1. You do not have to go through 9 months pregnancy with morning sickness, sleepless nights, and lots of uncomfotableness. Also the unbearable labour pain and child birth pain. Instead, (If not normal delivery) C section is also painful. 2. You get ready made child.
Disadvantage......1. Long waiting up to 5 years. Face lots of hassels with the agencies and the procedures (govt. act on adoption.) 2. Worries develop when the child would find out that he/she was adopted, whether or not child would be desparate to find out the real parents. 3. When the child is grown whether or not child would accept the adopted parents. 4. When parents stop or ground the child, or blame the child for something while not telling or blaming to the birth child/ren, adopted child would easily think that just because he/she was not flesh and blood (adopted), that was why parents were taking sides of their own kind.
Type of adoption are varies....1. parenthood. 2. grand paprents. 3. niece, nephew and cousin. 4. abandon
Affect.....1. excitements, anxieties and worries. 2. if the child is infant then it is okay. but if the child is pre-schooler, then question is whether or not child would like them or the atmosphere because adjustment is very important for both parties (child and the parents.) 3. If the child was treated bad wherever he/she was, it would be hard for the child to accept the changes until unless he/she was given plenty of love and care from the day one. Otherwise, the child would go on fear and emotional. |

advantages:
Adoption allows children to be loved. Seriously, if they are sent to an orphanage, they wouldn't feel very much cared for.
disadvantages:
As they grow older, adopted children tend to want to look for their biological parents more. They want to have answers.
How does it affect the parent/children?
2 ways. First, the parent might love the child as if its theire own. Second, cannot find and "connection" or "Bond" with them.
