I'm curious about how many Adoptees, FPs and APs work in the private adoption industry but can't find any info on this. Anybody know? Additional Details Thanks for the answers so far!
I just want to clarify:
I want to know about PRIVATE adoption agencies. I am curious as to how many AP vs how many FPs vs how many Adoptees are working in the private infant adoption business.
(I am aware that many of us who are touched by adoption volunteer - I am a former GAL and volunteer for several other organizations that work for natural family preservation and foster children among other things. )

I don't think you'll find stats on that but everyone I've met has either been a Pap, AP or somehow affiliated with a church. Its a great way to get first dibs. Kind of like the creepy Pap's with police scanners listening for incidences involving kiddies. |

I don't have statistics, but know that my best friend's adoptive dad was on the board of the agency that placed us both, as well as her older sister, who was a SW at that agency in the 80's.
I also know that the SW for my son's mom(different agency, different state) was also a birthparent, and many of the agency personnel were adoptive parents or adoptees. |

Many of us affected by adoption also work or volunteer in the adoption field -- it is RARE that you find an adoption agency or facilitator or organization without a birthparent working/volunteering there, or an adoptive parent or adoptee. It's natural to be connected to that which is a big part of our lives! And who knows more? |

I don't know about domestic facilitators, but at my international adoption agency, all of the employees are APs and adoptees. That fact was part of their mission statement as they wanted PAPs to know that they knew what they were talking about and understood how we were feeling as they had been there, done that. |
