No, there are two options...
1 - Take them with you. You may only need to get permission from the case worker, even if you taken them out of state. We took our foster kids camping and to the beach (several hours away) and it was never a problem.
2 - There is usually a system for 'respite care', that is extended care of foster children if the foster parents are traveling or just need a day or two off. Talk to the case worker, or the place where you took your foster home certification classes likely have the information you need. |

No, you are just required to let the agency know where you will be with address and phone numbers where you can be reached and some paper work needs to be filled out! |

No way. For 34 yrs we took a child or children on vacation--usually twice a yr. Only once did we leave a child in care with my niece. We just told the worker a couple of weeks ahead of time and provided her with a list of states we would be traveling through and she had the paperwork done and we were on our way when the time came. We took children to Canada, the east coast, Texas, and to the west coast. Those were the best yrs of our life and for some of them also. |

just need to let the social worker know...
BUT i had to get permission from my biological mum to go on vacation if it was over seas or something.
My social workers would have let me go either way but it was just common decency to ask my biological mum and let her know what was going on. |
