Yes it does cost lots to adopt. The reason is mainly legal fees, and adoption agency fees. You dont pay for gettingt he child of course, but you do pay for the process of doing so. It can range from as little as $300 (for a simply adoption from one parent to another) or up to $15,000 for an agency adoption in the US, even more if international.

The goverment pays for most of the costs for an adoption through fostercare, so the adoptive parents pay little if any fees at all. The children in fostercare are usually older, part of a sibling group, have some special needs or issues to consider, or are not legally feed for adoption yet, so the adoptive parents would need to foster the child first.

It costs money to go through the process. There isn't like a price per child or anything. You have to pay for the home study, and for the agency to process your paper work and spend time showing your profile to potential birth mothers. Sometimes when you get matched to a birth mother, she may need some things like maternity clothes or rent money, so that can cost money, and then for the whole adoption process, there is a lot of paper work, as well as paying for post placement visits.

It does cost a great deal of money to adopt children who NEED homes. I am speaking internationally, particularly China. The children are in orphanages and have been abandoned by their parents for at least a year, sometimes longer. The process, which includes agency, government and agency fees costs between $20-$30,000.

North American adoption costs less as the process is not as comprehensive, however there is costs surrounding medicals and police checks.

It all depends. The only adoptions that don't cost are adopting foster children who are older because the county assists with all the fees. Adopting a baby can cost anywhere from $10,000 to $100,000 depending on if it's in the U.S. versus a foreign adoption, and what type of agency you use. I think the standard fee is around $30,000 for most agencies. You have to pay quite a bit in legal fees plus adoption fees to an agency, sometimes birth mother's medical expenses, etc.

It costs about $10,000 to adopt a baby and thats at the cheaper end. It could run up to $20,000 or more. Thats suppose to be to pay for all the legal fees and paper work and everything like that, but personally I think thats way too high for "paper work"

Adoption fees can be very pricy, especially if you adopt internationally or want a newborn. If you go through the foster care system, most of the fees are paid for. In our case, they're trying to soak us for airfare, but that's another story.

As with everything in life, yes - it does cost to adopt. It is a legal process - and just as with everything that requires court approval - it is going to cost something. Private or agency arranged adoptions can cost in the upwards of thousands of dollars. However, if you adopt through foster care, it is significantly less money. You will still have certain fees that you will need to pay, but the state does provide assistance with covering those fees in foster/adopt situations.

No, it does not cost money to adopt the kids who NEED homes. When you're ready to start the process, you can contact your state department of social services (DHS, usually). The state covers all costs associated with adopting through foster care.

Now, if you're just wanting a baby, it does cost quite a bit of money. But most babies don't need new families. Their mothers could parent them just fine if they had some help.

ETA: I don't know how much it costs for a citizen of another country to adopt a child in their home country. There are children in every country who need loving homes, and it's always preferable that they stay within their own culture group. If there are not enough care givers in other countries to provide for their children, hopefully that country will be able to create programs to help with that problem. It does not help to take the children from all that they know and ship them to another country to aleviate the desire for someone else's child.

Try being a foster parent, the state pays you to take care of the kids.

you cant legally pay for another human being! but when you adopt you have to do it legally and that is when it cost money!

It really depends. Expect to pay $10k-50k and up. Sometimes you find a nice young girl who signs the baby over to you no problems, sometimes you are dealing with a drug addict who wants her baby back when she's sober, and will keep trying to get clean over and over, just enough to give you that horrid feeling that maybe you will get the baby taken away from you. My friend adopted a baby of a drug mom and up until her daughter's first birthday she was crying every night thinking she would lose her daughter. Her laywer fees ended up being insane with how much back and forth her case had.

if you want to adopt internationally it normally cost loads of money. but in some cases it doesnt. like in china....they have such a huge population, and so many orphans that you can get one for $1,000. if you go through an agency and do foster care, it doesnt cost anything. however you have to have lots of things done. your house has to be checked out. and theirs lots of other things that have to be done so that agency can make sure its safe. another thing is that babie/newborns cost more.
