Does this sound wrong to you?

well i am 13 now and i always wanted to get into foster parenting and stuff well when i am like 25 i want to adopt a kid but i dont really want a baby want to knwo what he or she is like before i get on but would it be weir if i was 25 and i adopted a 13 year old girl cuz that is a little young dont you think but i thik it will help your relationship cuz you can act like friends and a mother

i was adopted to because i cam from stupid parents and so dd my brother i do not want children to hae i am not getting married i considered it and so has my brother we are gonna be single for rest of life

Yes, it sounds wrong. First, you are far too young to be thinking about having children -- biological or adopted. Second, you shouldn't be "friends" with your children. There is a parent and a child. The parent guides the child...teaches him...and provides for him. Other children are for friends. Third, if you can have children biologically, do it. Children belong with their mothers unless their mothers are abusive or neglectful. Fourth, pay attention in school. Your spelling is atrocious and your grammar is just as bad.

Honey, no offense, but I think kids need a parent, not a 1/2 parent, 1/2 friend.

But it is good to want to adopt a foster child when you get older.

Kids from foster care are going to need parent's with GOOD BOUNDARIES and being "friends" with the child is not good boundaries. The kids need parents who are good role models that understand, care, and provide good discipline.

Being a friend is NOT what a foster child needs. A foster child needs a mother and/or a father.

Please finish school, get a job and grow up and then rethink this.

25 years old, that is 12 years from now.. My goodness you think ahead. Finish school, have goals, explore, go to college. AND then think about foster to adopt. Its wonderful that you already know at 13 that you have an interest in it. It is not healthy to be 1/2 friends and 1/2 parent with a child. You have to be 100% a parent. I hope you understand that.

You can't be the child's friend. Your job is to be the mom if you are fostering. The lines must be very clear. You can be warm and affectionate and love the child but you cannot be her friend. You will have to make decisions that she will not like and you can't worry about how she will feel about you. You just have to do what is best.

Mom to Foster Children

The only problem I have with this question is that I understand that you want children who are a little older and not babies - but you need to be their parent - they need guidance - structure...etc. Let the little ones at school be their friends.

WHAT?! just have a normal baby because then he or she is just like you and you would be family.. its better that way.
