Embryo Adoption.......anyone out there?

Embryo adoption is about making a baby for the sole purpose of being given away.
So wrong.
Adoption was meant to be about finding homes for children that don't have one.
NOT about making babies and changing ownership documents simply because adults want a child.
Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.
It's a head mess being adopted - imagine how the children of such a process will feel when they find out how they came into being.
Please do a HEAP of reading about how it feels for the child of such processes - when they finally grow up and can speak for themselves.
Because it's about the child - really it is.

Foster care is where there are thousands of children waiting for a loving family to adopt them.
They are the children that need adoption.

I considered it briefly, but to be honest when I looked into it there wasn't a lot of info. It seemed to me there weren't many people making their embryos available this way (understandable that many wouldn't want to). This was about 4 years ago. You still get to experience being pregnant, which is why I was thinking about it. I was concerned about how to tell people about it. It is a little awkward since it isn't common, but I would be open with my child about where he/she came from.

Also I disagree with "Embryo adoption is about making a baby for the sole purpose of being given away." (possum). The embryo is created to help someone else get pregnant, but isn't needed, since presumably they successful became pregnant with other embryos created at the same time. The donor realizes that they can help someone else have the chance to have a child - to me this seems very generous, and in no way is the embryo being created only to be given away.

Also, and I'm sure I am going to get lots of thumbs down because that's just how people are, have you considered getting a Traditional surrogate? She carries your baby while also donating her own eggs.

There are a lot of surrogacy agencies in the US, even though you could do your search independently online and save a lot on agency fees. You need to do all the leg work yourself. You also need to do a lot of reading up on it and you need a lawyer. Check up on the surrogacy laws by state, and start you and your husbands tests ASAP.

I know many Intended Parents (the couple who wants a baby) who can advise you further. And I am NOT an agency. I'm just trying to help out another human being here!

Possum---- Good grief !! Where do you get your facts??? I don't think i need to repeat myself on how their are embryos that could be adopted. Shelly has explained.

I did not do much fertility treatment except one IVF. I recall having to sign a form on what i would like with my "surplus" embryos. Due to fertility drugs several embryos are created when some one goes the IVF route. I chose for my embryos to be used for science rather than make it available for adoption.

Now its some thing i would not do because i was never desperate to "get pregnant" !!

If that's what you and your husband want to do then do it.
Maybe you can ask your doctor about info on it, or maybe some websites.
