It sounds like you're at the very beginning of the learning process. For starters look at this site: http://adopting.adoption.com/child/steps-to-an-adoption-2.html it will give you a general idea about adoption.

Then starting Googling blogs and forums about Russian adoptions. Look for viewpoints of both adoptive parents and those who were adopted. There are many things to learn.

Adopting from Russian can cost $30,000 or more and can take several years. Here's a link to the requirements as they stand now: http://adoption.state.gov/country/russia.html

ETA: Here's a Canadian link about Russian adoptions: http://www.adoptioncanada.org/adoption-from-russia/

I got chatting to a lady at a New Jersey shopping mall.

She openly patted her adopted Russian son on the head and announced for all to hear "this one cost us $30,000"

I admit I puked a little in my mouth. Poor kid.

It is not a short process at all, can take several years, and usually at least 2 trips to Russsia, several weeks long. The travel expenses are huge, and the whole process can cost well over $30,000, closer to $40,000. It is a shame it is so expensive, but if you are really "called" to adopt a child from that country, go for it and good luck.

My cousin adopted from Korea. I wish I had info for you. I know it cost them thousands and I am not sure how long it took. She was a baby when they got her though.

Canadian kids not trendy enough for you? You do realize that Canadian kids in foster care often experience heart wrenching abuse not unlike what you have already seen in the youtube videos you enjoy so mucg, don't you?

International adoptions are expensive, think 20-60 thousand dollars, about the price of a new car. It takes tons of work and can take many years.
