well I dont think this part of the forum is refering to animal adoption.. but..

1. your giving the chance of a brand new life to an animal that has been ditched
2. there are millions of purebreed dogs/pups in the shelter that you can get (if thats what you want) for a fraction of the cost
3. they come to you cheaper than buying from somewhere else (they had shots, been fixed, wormed ect) and you only pay like $50-$100 where are you would spend that on top of purchasing a dog somewhere else.
4.mutts tend to make the best pets.. ( so people say! Ive always fancied purebreed so I know exactly what Im getting, Ive never had luck with mixes)

There are so many more, but those are all my tired brain will think of right now!

You're saving a life. However, this really ought to go under the pet forum.

Many of them are housebroken already. Some have training as well. All have personality.

By the time they get to the local shelter, they've lost all track of their mother.

No fear of her re-appearing, and upsetting your family.

This really belongs in the pet section. However, with adoption, you are saving an animal's life and giving it a loving home it deserves. Also, like someone mentioned, many are housebroken and shots are up to date. Most are also spayed/neutered so you do not have those extra costs.

Giving an animal a home that needs one more than a "profit pup" from a pet store. The advantages of adopting are that you can often see a dog full grown, many are house broken and you will feel good about yourself as well as save a lot of money.

most get put to sleep as shelters run out of room..they are also normally fixed before you are allowed to adopt them..we have a pound cat we got her when she was 16 weeks old and few weeks of life left they had did everything to try to find a home spot lighted her online in the newspaper...she is now apart of our family..we have had her three years and she is just as spastic as she was the day we brought her home..there were many older cats there as well..we already had adopted one from a home she is now 14..when we adopt again it will be from a pound..rescue shelters dont put them to sleep and its a lengthy process to get an animal from them i tried before i got my pound cat....i know i rescued her..and thats a good feeling

I would hope that people are not considered the same as animal adoption :(

EASY...... THE PUPPY MILLS....
When you buy a puppy in the mall you are incresing the black market of puppy mills .... its just a horrible thing, they put the puppy´s parents in cages whit no medical care, food or any care, its something very sad, then they just take their puppies away from them.

Im not a great fan of PETA because sometimes they are a little extreme but i saw a video there about puppy mills and just touch my heart i hope will touch yours.

Very good question, by the way.

The animal will show you unconditional love.

Funny how all the responses seem to be positive towards animal adoption. If you would have asked this question about a child's adoption in this section, you would have received much different answers. Interesting how what is good for animals isn't good for people. : )

The advantages are that the animals will have been worked with to make sure they have been socialized. Then they can match up the pet with the most suitable family. I've had nothing but rescued dogs and cats. The plus with mixed breed dogs is that many of the problems like hip dysplasia, tendency to be aggressive, etc. have been "bred out" of the animals. They give you nothing but unconditional love, a shoulder to cry on and lifelong companionship. And you are rescuing an animal that will not have to be euthanized. It depends on the facility you choose to adopt from concerning neutering and spaying, but it is mandatory to do so before adoption. Good Luck! Thank you for not contributing to puppy mills and overpopulation etc.

Until there are none, please adopt one.

Thanks sunny, et.al. for the thumbs down.
